Mario Kart 7 Wheel (Nintendo 3DS)

OK, here are some impressions on the 3DS wheel. I've been using it since launch day and it's my preferred way to play Mario Kart 7, and pretty much my preferred grip for many other games. It makes the 3DS more comfortable to hold for long periods of time.The most important part of the design for me are the bits that stick out at the bottom, the "legs" as I will call them. These legs actually give the last three fingers (those other than your index finger and thumb) on each hand something to hold on to, and prevent the corners of the device sticking into your palms. It totally removes the pain issue as well as the possibility of getting pins and needles - at least in my use.The shoulder triggers are a nice bonus, and have almost as much movement as the standard triggers - definitely no more movement than the standard as they simply press the standard triggers down mechanically. They are hinged towards the middle of the unit which means they feel more responsive towards where your fingers are (see photos). They have a different feel and size, which can take a small amount of getting used to.The circumference of the unit is good. All in all the wheel a couple of cm less wide compared to the Wii wheel (see photos). The thickness of the grip itself is slightly fatter than the Wii wheel. The curve of the grip is rounded on the back side of the wheel, and flat on the front.You put the 3DS into the wheel shoulder buttons first, and there is some soft rubber to make the unit fit perfectly just above the legs. All in all, it's excellent. Everything you would expect from an officially licenced peripheral, and up to Hori's high standards.One last thought: I think this makes the game feel more like a home console game rather than a handheld, which is great.

Lets start with, the 3DS is not the most comfortable hand held gaming device out but with this device it makes them long gaming sessions comfortable.After a couple of hours of gaming my hands normally start to hurt/strain due to my hands being in a awkward position holding the 3ds but attach this cool device and it makes the 3ds feel like a gaming controller. Plus the L + R buttons are alot easier to use so again makes gaming more comfortable.If you just use your 3ds at home (like I do atm) then I would highly recommend but if you like to use/take your 3ds on the move then this probably wouldn't be practical as its makes the 3ds bulky.Anyway I've been keeping a eye out on this for awhile but with £9.99 price tag I couldn't bring myself to buy it. But at its current price of £2.99, its great value for a great product! *would recommend*

A very useful accessory for people who like playing Mario Kart from a first person point of view. It is combined with the 3DS' gyroscope and provides a more authentic first person racing experience. I definitely recommend getting it before it becomes obsolete due to the New 3DS.

As other reviewers have said this wheel makes playing any other game on the 3DS alot easier, minimises hand cramps that I occasionally get from playing as it is comfortable to hold and grips the 3DS nicely.For Mario Kart 7 gameplay it is great (note to anyone you have to be in first person view for the gyro function to work! It does say this in the manual but I don't tend to read those)I do find using this feature alot trickier as it takes some getting used to but it is alot of fun and the kart does handle more realistically than simply using the analogue button. The one downside is that when using the gyro feature with the wheel it makes 3D gameplay quite hard to see as you need to be straight on, but that's really nothing at all as the 3D feature can easily be switched off!I would advise any Mario Kart fan to get this!

well its a pity it didnt explaine it only for 3ds and not xl i bought for my little boys birthday some sadness when it didnt work is there a wheel available for 3ds xl

This "wheel" is nothing more than a moulded plastic holder for the 3DS which makes it easier to "turn" the wheel while playing Mario Kart. Of course, the screen turns with it, so be prepared to see the screen at an angle.But Mario Kart is not all it's good for. I've got quite big paws, and the 3DS is rather petite with hard edges and corners which dig into and irritate my hands. All too often I'd find myself knocking the shoulder buttons by mistake. The wheel makes it much more comfortable to hold the 3DS for extended periods while playing other games, and keeps the edges of my fingers away from the shoulder buttons.Of course, I could have bought a 3DS XL, but that's significantly more expensive and still has the hard edges and corners. This product is an ideal compromise.

Fits my 3ds prefect i have large hands so I don’t just use this for Mario kart I use this for all my games without getting cramp in my hands has I did before

To be honest i did not like the 3DS until i purchased this it is as it makes it comfortable to hold in one's hand.
