Better colour rendition and brightness
I was always disappointed with the light output and colour rendition from my Maglite, it never seemed bright enough and the illumination was always a shade of yellow. However, after conversion, my Maglite is now my favourite go to inspection torch. To fit the LED upgrade is easy: I used long nosed pliers with soft jaws to remove the old bulb and fit the new LED unit. It took a matter of seconds to convert. My Maglite now produces a bright, white light. As it is only 1w then battery life is bound to improve. Value for money? Previously, a £30 Maglite very rarely used, at the back of the drawer; now, with the £10.95 conversion, it sits on my desk ready for immediate use. It may seem expensive, but it's worth it for the superior performance I now have from my Maglite. Not a Maglite conversion kit, so it will void any Maglite warranty; but why didn't Maglite come up with this? It is an ingenious upgrade.

Fits and works
This replacement LED is much brighter than the original bulb (I think it's 1 watt), but not as bright as other LED torches I have. It's still worth the cost, although it's about 50% of the price of a new Maglite. The replacement fits perfectly, although it then requires fewer turns to switch on the torch - no big deal. Remember that LEDs have polarity, so if it doesn't work, pull it out and turn it round before plugging in again. Can't comment on battery life because I've not had it long enough, but LEDs typically take much less power.Update: batteries seem to last ages, without any fading. A brilliant purchase!

Exceptionally Bright - and fitted in seconds.
I have two trusty old AA Mini Maglite's. Both being about 15 years old, but still in near perfect condition, and continuing to serve well. However, when one of the original lamps recently failed, (and having no spares left), I needed a new lamp.On searching, I discovered that nowadays, various LED "direct replacements" were available. As the original lamps were never particularly bright, and with this one being touted as the brightest available replacement, I decided to give it a try.Purchased from The Widget Co., the replacement arrived within 48 hours, and was fitted to the Maglite in a matter of seconds. The difference between this LED and the original Krypton or Xenon lamps is astonishing.Astoundingly bright, and retaining full beam focussing control on the torch, this brings the Mini Maglite fully back to life and up-to-date as a serious alternative to any of the modern day alternatives that are available.I can't yet vouch for the longevity of the LED - but I've worked in the electrical industry all my life, and I know that LED's are generally very reliable.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this LED, and I will definitely be getting another one for my second Mini Maglite.

The future looks bright........
Ok, well I was hesitant but decided to purchase. It arrived in quick time, well packaged. It is a complete upgrade so required some fiddling but the instructions are clear and the job simple. I am not sure it was machined to the right dimension for the recess beneath so it sits up on the original black plastic bulb carrier a little. This necessitates the outer lens carrier to be screwed out slightly further. In practice this does not appear be be any great problem it seems, other than the fact that it no longer fits in the box comfortably. However, the main thing is the light produced which is really very good indeed. Very bright, clear white light with real intensity. If it lasts as long as advertised then this will be the making of the torch and definitely worth the small cost involved. Highly recommended.

Finally my Maglite Mini can be classed as a torch
Lets face it, the standard bulb on the mini is terrible, better off lighting a match. At least with this upgrade, I can now call it a torch. Easy to fit, unscrew the cover (remove batteries first), pull out bulb, insert this into the 2 holes the bulb came from, screw back on cover, insert batteries. It is that simple and quick. The light is now bright and shines a good distance. The cover does not screw all the way down like before, but its no big deal. You can still focus from spot to flood, but it is that bright compared, even a focus beam lights the room. A worthwhile purchase to upgrade.

Led vs halogen- led wins, full stop.
My old halogen bulb was struggling on the batteries that had been sat inside my mini maglite unsed for 10 years or so, and the batteries need changing. On a whim, I decided to upgrade the bulb to an led one instead and I am glad I did.The led bulb is giving out a far far brighter light beam on the same old tired batteries, meaning that the new bulb has increased the battery life by some margin.I would like to say that my mini maglight was used for years at work, covered in fuel and oil, used as a hammer and generally abused, and is still going strong, awesome bits of kit.Update: I just got some amazon basics AA batteries, and with new batteries I made the mistake of looking at the bulb as I turned it on. It's brightness took me by surprise. The led upgrade is well worth doing to a mini maglite!

Mini Maglight LED torch conversion
Works well and uses a lot less battery power than the standard bulb. Recommended

Must have upgrade for your Mini Maglite
An amazing upgrade to my Mini Maglite. Simple to fit and takes less than a minute to upgrade the original bulb with the LED. Astonishingly bright, don't stare into the light! Less energy wasted as heat means the bulb is far brighter than the original incandescent bulb. You can still focus the light beam and of course the brighter beam shines much further. This is a must have upgrade for your MagLight.

Works much better than expected
Super easy to install (but be sure that you don't accidentally try removing the black plastic part in the Maglite that says "do not remove"), really very bright, does maintain the original focus feature and (although I have not used it long enough to know) I suppose has much better battery life.

Nice bright light!
I just pulled out the old burned out bulb (leaving the existing switch base in place) and plugged this one in! Eazy Pezy!!! What a difference! And you can still focus the beam!!! Very few things in this world are worth the price, but this is!!! It’s not just a new light, it’s a better brighter light!! Awesome!!

It is brighter
The only hit on this unit is that it causes the overall length to be about 1/8" longer. Most wouldn't find this a problem but I have this particular flashlight in a semi-hard belt sheath and now the flap won't close. But it is brighter.
