The Tall Man [Blu-ray]

What on earth is this movie about? Allegedly it's inspired by the Slenderman creepypasta, and I have to say that it has a solid cast and excellent production values - definitely not a shoddy straight to video/made for TV/found footage/crowd sourced piece of crap - but damn is the plot thin. If you're expecting its slick cinematography and well presented characters to lead up to some well deserved denouement, then you'll be disapointed; it's like the script writers got to the middle act and decided the audience didn't need to know exactly what was going on, and just cobbled together some vague and implausible closing segment prior to rolling the credits. Please don't misunderstand me - I was a film student and worked in the industry, and hold dear many art cinema pieces where distanciation from the audience is centra! to the plot - but this rolled along in a very Hollywood manner and just seemed to give up. We never get to know precisely who is responsible, there are vague allusions to an organised and obviously well funded body, and yet our intellect only gets to reflect on the supposed plight of average American kids not born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Seriously; what's the point?!

I am not sure what point was the movie trying to make. I'm supposedly a reasonably smart person yet it totally eludes me. I did have a good laugh though. Neither scary nor deep, the totally nonsensical plot will distract you for a while before you will need to resort to Wikipedia to try and understand what the farce is all about.

Good acting from Biel in this suspense thriller involving the mysterious disappearance of children in a small town. The big twist awaits and does not become apparent until the end. It is a nice enjoyable fil if one likes crime thrillers.

I watched this some years ago and thought I'd watch it again with my son. It was to be his first scary film but it was a failure. A bit old, not much to keep you gripping the seat but a bit of a twist (which is unveiled a bit too early).Not worth paying to watch but ok.

Arrived quickly...really enjoyed this film...it's not what you think is happening..good acting by Jessica Biel

Great story

Good movie that has you on the edge of your seat.

At first posing as a supernatural thriller, the twist turns out to be just as haunting and very much more real. Jessica Biel owns this roost.
