I think I found a way to get the bot to make accurate maps!
Update: I think I found a way to make the Deebot create better maps. Tried it twice and both times it worked! The bot doesn't understand closed doors and treats them as walls initially, but as soon as you open the door it will find its way in and marks that opening as door, but will not add any space outside that door to the room it's mapping.First turn off AIVI Smart Recognition until mapping is complete. That slows down the process and every couch leg or bed post will throw the bot into a spin. So, despite what Ecovacs app said I closed my bedroom door and let the bot go through the side door to the walk-in closet and go out through the bathroom door, mapped the apartment and went back through the same bathroom door for a charge. It swept the apartment and created the map in one run and I didn't even have to edit the map, every boundary was correct. Give it a try...Your mileage may vary depending on how big your place is, but for multiple bedrooms I suggest you close all doors except for the room where the bot is. Let it map the common areas and create the initial map. Once that's done, open all closed doors and run the bot again. It will go clean all those rooms and maps them as separate spaces and doors are no longer walls to the bot.I also gave back the bot one star since the replacement refurb Deebot I've got met the expectation of refurbished product.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Again I had to drop two stars just for the archaic and mediocre app and anther just because the refurbished unit I've got has used parts. Side brushes are bent, filter is dirty and the main brush has hair in it. It has to go back. And it's beyond me why a company that creates such good hardware is unable to create a decent app for it. Two years in and it's still impossible to divide rooms correctly.

Buyer Beware!
Im embarrassed to say I have purchased 3 of these refurbished vacuums over the past year mostly due to the price. Every one of them has stopped being able to charge after a few months. They go to the charger, they say they are charging but they do not charge. Buyer beware!!

Good
The water tank is full of water, but I can't see the water outlet. The water level doesn't go down after each sweep. I don't know what's going on.

Steve the deebot does a decent job
The media could not be loaded. I have 2 dogs and a couple of small parrots. My friend recommended a bot vacuum to control the dog hair. I got this refurbished deebot to try it out (the reviews were good for dog hair). I've never had a bot vac. I've had this several months. It is operated through an app on your phone. Setting it up With the home wifi was wonky. It took several attempts. I still don't know what I did to finally get it connected. It does a surprisingly good job cleaning. It mops , too! It has a little water reservoir and mopping pad on the back. On the low water setting It doesn't use much water, yet I can see the difference in the floor cleaniness. I have adjusted it to higher water level to help with hair and dust maintenance. To clean my 1700sft home, on the lowest water setting, the water reservoir still has water when it's finished. On the app you set the level of suction and water usage. I check the dirt tank half way through its cleaning. The noise level is minimal, even on the highest level. The deebot doesn't go over the flooring transition strips. I have to lift it over. It also doesn't clean in straight lines. It's like watching a bumper car. At times you have to move it because it just bounces around in one area even though there is a path out. Yes, you'll have to keep an eye on it. It would be nice if I could control the direction it moves. It stays on this large transition strip and gets stuck. Soooo annoying. Even setting cleaning areas, the stupid thing won't stay off the strip. Also, it does just turn itself off for no reason. It has trouble finding the charging station at times. It is good stopping at the steps when I take it upstairs. It doesn't go over rugs or clean corners. You will have to move stuff and still clean corners. It's a good machine to keep dog hair at a minimal and floors maintained. I use it 2 to 3 times everyday downstairs to keep the dog hair at a minimum. I bought another refurbished one. It's the osmo pro one. It seems a tad smarter. I took Steve upstairs to keep him there and run him at least once a day. Caution, these machines do get tangled up in cords. I had to trash a good lamp because the cord wrung around the wheel. Do buy a refurbished one to see if it's for you. I recommend this machine if you have time to follow after it.

Great hardware, sound, power. Worthless mapping
The robot is made very premium. It vacuums well and fast. Battery life is long so it can do my house in one go as opposed to my Roomba i3 which needs to charge for an hour and half in the middle of the job to finish. On the other hand, if you want a vacuum to use with Alexa or Google to clean a room or have it clean a specific area in your house using the map, forget it. The making of the initial map is fast and easy, but the second time the vacuum runs it will distort the map sideways or off to the side by 3 ft. You can see in the screenshot that the second time the vacuum ran it overlaid the same map over the original map but off by 30° for no apparent reason. This requires the map to be reset over and over and over. That being said, for the sale price of $150, its still worth it for the machine itself.

Vacuum while you sleep!
This little guy does a great job of keeping my hardwood floors clean. Not only does it handle the pet hair, dirt, and dry runs, but it also has a mopping function/attachment that allows for damp/wet cleaning as well. It's smart enough to know when it is going over carpet (so that it won't mop) as well. The app allows for you to 'segment' the rooms into their own areas as well. This is helpful if you just want to spot-clean a room and not the entire floor. The battery has a long run time and the vacuum container bin is ample enough to hold a lot of dirt. The voice reports when a cleaning job is complete or if there are issues are great! The Amazon and Google integration are extremely helpful as well.
