Doesn't obstruct flow
Store various filter medias in the bags, been in my tanks for way over a year.The only down side is the string can be so long you're struggling to put it anyway.Doesn't obstruct flow as long as the water is filtered well beforehand or degrade.

Mesh isn't fine, so useless for substrate
Unfortunately the mesh is nowhere near as fine as the photos make it look, nor would I describe it as 'fine' as per their description. I bought them to help lock down some plant substrate so that even if the fish move the sand capping layer, the stratum wouldn't fill the water column. Unfortunately the mesh is way too big and the stratum falls straight through, so these bags are basically useless to me.
