OtterBox 77-61661 for Apple iPhone 8 Plus, Superior Rugged Protective Case, Defender Series, Black

The case feels very durable and strong and my phone has survived some nasty bumps and drops with it (my baby likes to throw it when she’s done listening to music)... however, I have had splashes on the case and the water gets under the case to the screen, meaning you have to immediately diassesmble the case to dry the phone. Not good.Also, while the finger print recognition worked perfectly when I first got the case, now a mere 2 weeks later, the cover for the fingerprint button is badly crumpled from life in my pockets and purse, and it almost never recognizes my fingerprint anymore, so I have to use my password again; his inhibits functionality of the phone.

Essentially a good idea but the design is not really thought through entirely and definitely not worth the high price tag. My iPhone 8plus was saved a few times but eventually the glass back was smashed when falling from about 3ft drop onto pavement, shortfalls of the case are as follows:1) the back of the case is the weakest point, stupidly the case has solid plastic bevelled edges around the rear apple logo and around the camera lens which are not protected by rubber, so any drop onto these means that the shock is directed straight onto your phones glass back and it will shatter after only a small drop.2). These cases do permanently mark your phone, lots of people complain about this, particularly the glass front around the earphone and microphone area. (You can put tape on the front screen to stop this though)3). The front rubber edge loses its seal quite quickly and becomes ‘baggy’ after a while4) makes phone extremely cumbersome. The rubbery case is sometimes a godsend but with the excessive bulk of the case it can make it hard to remove from pockets and bags sometimes, it can often culminate with dropping or ‘flinging’ the phone which you are trying to avoid.5). Does not read finger print after a short time, I had to remove the button cover after a few weeks to make it work.6) constantly taking case off as is is easily contaminated with dust, water, sand etc

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas present for his iPhone 7plus as he had worn out another case that didn’t last long. So after lots of research and deliberating I decide to give this one a go. He has been absolutely delighted with it. We took off the iPhone protective glass he had on his phone, Cleaned his screen, and put the new one on that is attached to the cover. It was really hard to get the phone into the case, so I googled how to do it as I could see the frustration kicking in! After a bit he won! The touch screen works brilliant and the cover is fantastic. Keeps the phone safe and secure! I would definitely recommend this case!

This is a very large thick case which I have no doubt gives excellent protection. Difficult to fit the phone in the case. Several of us tried but could not get it apart.If, like me, you want to carry your phone in your pocket it is far too thick and heavy.It does come with a screen protection and a clip device to use in a car.If you want great protection and not worried about the thickness it is a good buy. If you want to carry your phone in your pocket look for something else.

Just bought another one of these - my last one lasted 2 years of site use, in road construction. It’s not perfect but it’s as good a tough case as you’ll get.Not gonna comment on waterprofness as never tested, but drop protection and grippiness in your hand are excellent.The grippy cover also allows the phone to stay put on your dash or console when using as a sat nav - actually one of the best things about this cover.Screen cover got scratched after 1 year so I just cut it out and continued to use without - I didn’t miss it tho as the case still did all the things I’ve talked about so was all good.

I bought this five months ago and initially was so pleased with it; felt like my phone was indestructible. And it was - while the case was functioning properly - but in the last couple of months the outer rubber seal has started to gape at the corners, meaning the phone it not fully sealed in or protected from water anymore. This is really annoying, as it means having to take the whole thing apart every so often to get out stuff that gets into the case now, which is tedious because of the layered structure of the case - not sure if there's an option to just buy a new rubber bit, but even if there is, not very good for it to malfunction after only a few months...Would be so worth it if it kept working like it does initially but only three or four months worth of full protection are not really worth the £30+ for this case and however much the new case I will probably have to buy will be :/

The case on its own is amazing. I’ve ready many reviews and recommendations for Otterbox phone cases and it lives up to those faithfully.The one and only massive issue is the built in screen protector. It is AWFUL at keeping dust and dirt out from between the screen and the built in screen protector. It WILL damage and scratch your screen if you do not take the case off and clean it regularly. Not only that but it makes the touch pad work less faithfully.I 100% recommended that if you are buying an Otterbox Defender phone case, TAKE OFF THE BUILD IN SCREEN PROTECTOR and put a different one on. - you can carefully lift it off with with a Stanley blade - Your phone will still fit snugly and it will now no longer trap dirt.

Fab case. Bit on the large side and not the most attractive but it’s the most protective case I’ve ever had. Real heavy duty. Updated to add that the fingerprint film cover over the home button peeled away but as I wanted this case for drop protection that didn’t bother me. Only other niggle is that water can get between the screen and screen protector which is annoying. Such a tough case though it does it’s job of protecting my phone while I work in a very physical job.
