Book is good to practice basslines in different genres.
Book is good to practice basslines in different genres, but it doesn't actually teach you anything. As other reviewers have said, at the end of each chapter it will say "Summing up - now you know". And my thought is always "Unfortunately, no I don't".It's very robotic, lazy, and dry in the way that it tries to 'teach'. The overall feel of the book is one of lecturing rather than of teaching and helping you understand what's being presented in the book.Imagine a disinterested part time University lecturer coming into class each day, scribbling a few vague notes on the board, and being deaf to any questions asked. Then having to go home and spend ten times the amount of time in the lecture making sense of what was presented in the lecture. The greatest value I got is practicing basslines in many different genres, and I found this extremely useful, but that is not the intended purpose of the book. If you're buying the book for any other reason, you're going to be very disappointed.

Learn your fretboard.
Bought to have scale mode patterns and chords on paper in an easy to get at form. For the price and considering it comes with a CD it is good value. However if you are a beginner this would need to be paired up with a book such as David Overthrows Bass Method Course. See my review.I say this because there are too many pages were for instance you are shown in graphic form the notes on the fretboard. At the end of the chapter it then tells you what you have learned. Lo and behold you find out that you now know the notes on the fretboard. There is a little more to it than that. I could imagine a beginner pulling their hair out. This book is fine as a reference for what you have already learned in a step by step manner from another book. Indeed it would be fine as an accompaniment to free YouTube videos you can watch. This is a thin book it does not have the pages to hold your hand and take you through in small steps. Fine for what I bought it for hence four stars.

Great teaching technique!
Fantastic way to learn the bass. Introduces you to all the styles (rock, pop, blues, jazz, funk, etc.). Great mix of theory and practice. I do play guitar already so maybe people with little musical knowledge will have more trouble following. However, these days you can just google anything you don't understand eh! The teaching technique is great as they prepare you to play along with anything as long as you know the chords.

Moveable Bass Patterns
This is a good book and an excellent CD that takes you through the bass melodies to help you get the timing and intonation correct. There are also play along pieces too. I like the idea of looking at the fretboard from this perspective, as a series of patterns transferable for each key. It is a great help to those setting out to learn the Bass guitar as well as more experienced player.

Excelent, easy way to start or extend your ability.
I think this book is one of the best teaching aides i have purchased because it is very simple, very good value for the money. Very easy to follow and is ultra clear and foolproof. So easy to use and will have you smiling in under an hour (because your playing bass guitar and its so easy you will wonder why you didn't start earlier)

Groovy baby!
The book is great but I'm still rubbish! I don't personally make the time to practice. (Sad Face)

Very good
Very good. It's not for absolute beginners, but helps reasoning in terms of structures of the chords and scales
