Vintage Leather Messenger Soft Leather Briefcase Satchel Laptop by Urban Hide (Buff Bag)

The shoulder strap came with no holes in it to attach both halves together so I had to take it to a cobbler to have the holes put in it to use the shoulder strap, also arrived a stain on the front pocket . I have included photos of both defects, also the bag smelt but not a leather smell and the press studs to keep the bag closed and secure open when you pick it up with the handle as the buckles are just for show not used to secure the bag which I was expecting them to do. It was way too expensive for what it was and I wish I had invested more and got a bag I could use daily for work , which I can’t as it isn’t secure and I have to carry confidential paperwork around with me and if I pick the bag up by the handle it opens up exposing the contents of my bag and possibly lose things out of it.

I really liked the look of this bag and the price was low. I've had some other leather stuff come from India and been pleased with them so I thought I would give it a go. A few others had left negative reviews but I decided I could always return it if I wasn't pleased with it.It came this morning and I'm really pleased with it. It's much better quality than I was expecting for the price. It doesn't have a strong smell, just a faint smell of leather and wax. The leather feels waxy but this will fade with time and use. The leather quality is good and appears to be pull-up leather so will age nicely with a battered, rustic look, sort of Indiana Jones style. All the fastenings and rivets appear to be secure and none are missing. The zips and lining are sewn in well. The only fault I have found is that one or two of the lines of stitching aren't quite straight but I'm being picky because I used to be a curtain and soft furnishings maker and had to have my stitching dead straight.The bag feels strong enough to carry a laptop which is what it is actually designed for. However, I shall be using it as my every day carry bag to hold my journals and pens and bits and pieces.Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Coming from India quality control may not always be the best on these lower cost items so it may be the odd one gets shipped that isn't so good but you can always return it easy enough with Amazon. I'm glad I took the risk because mine is spot on.

I bought this bag because it was cheap and made of leather. The leather is quite good but the straps to close it seems to be, in fact, salvaged belts...this makes extremely slow and bothersome to open and close it, but the worst thing is that the buckles are attached with press studs: In fact you can end up with the buckle in your hand as you try to close the bag! I have had it for 2 weeks...I went to a concert...and one of the buckles were unstrapped (as the bag was checked)...well...after I left the buckle was GONE! I mean you can even trust the buckles to stay attached to the bag!! Now I have one pocket that is unusable!!

Very nice, well made. Fits a 17 inch laptop with plenty of room for other kit and books.As others have noted it does smell when you first open it but after a few weeks airing it is fine.

I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of this leather briefcase and its appearance. It was priced at about one third of the cost of my previous briefcase, but I much prefer this one. It has a contemporary look, but wouldn't be out of place as an executive's case.It's not specifically designed for laptops as there aren't any extra protective features provided other than the leather case itself. However, if you kept your laptop or touchscreen device inside a bespoke pouch, then this would provide sufficient additional protection for normal use and activities.The case seems well-made enough to last, provided you don't use it to carry excessive amounts of belongings.

Only negative was that it was supposed to have a leather bound journal with it and it didn’t arrive. Contacted seller who said it was whilst stocks were available but didn’t state in description.I use this to carry 2 laptops and associated peripheral. It’s really sturdy and although there is a sewn in padded sleeve for a 15 inch laptop I carry 17 inch easily. It has several internal sections and 4 external. All external pockets and the flap have a clasp under the buckle which is great.Very soft texture and thick leather. You will need to use some sort of protective sealant on it to maintain its look otherwise it will stain but a fab purchase!A classic look and looks like it cost a lot more than it did!I scored 4 stars because inaccurate description of free journal...

I dont write many reviews on Amazon unless I feel compelled to so.........Wow, a lot better than I expected, Beautiful quality and colour, appears well made, press studs below the buckles make for easy access to inside of bag as you don't have to unbuckle the straps. The leather is soft and supple but I gave it a few coats of Autoglym leather cream which has soaked in and softened the leather and made it slightly more supple. Inside linings appears to be a heavy green canvas. Cannot remove the shoulder strap, but you wouldn't want all the weight of the bag when carrying it by the top handle to be taken by the two press studs on the two front buckle straps anyway, so if you treat this as an over the shoulder bag only then it's fine. The bag took ages to arrive from India but other than the long wait I'm delighted with it.....and it smells wonderful too ! Really happy with it.

Very sturdy bag that will last for years no doubt but the stitching, cutting of the leather and the material inside the case were all of lower quality. For the price I wasn't expecting a grade A leather satchel but I thinkni few weeks to the manufacture process would make this a fantastic satchel. That geing said I know this satchel will last.
