Excellent lock for communal areas. I have used these locks for years at work and now I have bought my own
The media could not be loaded. Having used 3 of these regularly over the past 4 years at work and needing to fit a new lock to a communal hallway I decided to buy this lock. I fitted the lock myself.I had hoped it would fit in place of the previous ERA key and latch lock that was already fitted, but it would not. I ended up fitting the lock and filling in the old holes using...Ronseal HPWFD550G 550g High Performance Wood Filler - Dark...which is amazing stuff.Although fitting was not easy, it was not difficult either. The instructions are very clear and as long as you have all the correct tools and some diy knowledge you should be fine. Just make sure you spend a lot of time on step 1 with the template, a joiner once told me "measure twice, cut once" it is worth following that advice.I had some real trouble trying to hacksaw through the fastening bolts, in the end I used some large strong wire clippers and just clipped the bolts. The lock comes with a randomly generated 4 pin lock code, but this can be changed to a number of your choice (between 1 and 13 digits), they are 8191 possible codes.Tools needed:Drill, Drill bits 8mm, 13mm, 25mm (The 13mm and 25mm bit are hard to find, 12mm and 24mm should also work fine IMHO), Phillips Screwdriver size 2, Bradawl (though I managed without one), Chisel max 25mm, Hammer, Stanley knife, Adhesive tape, Pencil, Hacksaw, Tape measure. You may also need, wood filler, sandpaper, paint.Pros:*Keyless lock*Works well*Robust*Easy(ish) to fit*Choice of codes*Changeable codes*Very well made*Good value (at price when reviewed)*Large easy to turn knobs, handles may not be needed*Clear instructions*Well known Yale brand*2 year guaranteeCons:*Lots of tools needed to fit, asks you to use some difficult to source drill bit sizes (13mm & 25mm)*Not as secure as a key lockThese type of locks are ideal for communal areas, I installed this in a front door of a block of flats. I worked in a resource centre and loads of these locks where fitted, we never had any issues with them. I wouldn't use as a main lock on the front door to a home as I wouldn't feel fully secure.I plan to buy two more of these to fit on my shed/summerhouse doors.I would definitely recommend this product

All th details covered in clear easyto read instructions
This is truly a well designed and well made product. On top of this the instructions for fitting are excellent. All the details are included in how to drill and mount the lock, include a well made template that you tape to the door for all the drilling holes.. No bad translations, or ambiguous sentences here...When fitted the lock worked perfectly and everything lined up as it should do. Remember that all these mechanical locks have a unique code, but the order you input each digit IS NOT required to unlock it.Two little suggestions for anyone going to fit this.1- Try and fit the lock at a height on the door that you and everyone using it can clearly see. If you are going to push the buttons, you need to see them clearly without having to bend or stoop.2- Fitting the strike plate is probably the most demanding part, as you have to set the plate in a position that allows the latch to slide in easily, but not the dead bolt rod. This rod is only a few mm back from the latch, so make sure you measure the depth into the door frame carefully. Some doors have a recess, so you can't slide a credit card in the gap and open the latch, if your door is like this, the measurement may not be so critical.

Dodgy instructions
I drilled the holes in the door using the template provided - and then had to enlarge them considerably because the position of the holes did not coincide with the threaded holes in the lock sections. I cut the bolts that go through the holes and hold the lock in place in accordance with instructions, thickness of door +15mm - and then had to omit the rubber plates that form a base for the lock, otherwise the bolts would not have been long enough. There is a small rod they ask you to screw to the inner face of the lock to secure its position presumably while fixing the bolts - but the template has no hole for that rod. It took me a very long time to assemble and fix the lock. It works well, other than, as another reviewer mentioned, some of the buttons are very stiff. In my lock the C, which you must include in any code you choose, is so stiff that my wife can hardly push it.

Fitting
I bought this lock as after reading the reviews. Someone said that they had fitted this to a gate 60mm in thickness. I read the fitting instructions which are very simple to follow but when I tried to attach both sides of the lock the screws that are provided are not long enough to go through the gate (which is 60mm thick) The instructions stated that if longer screws were required please call the customer help line. I called them only to be told they do not do longer screws.Over all the lock is very well made and very easy to fit with clear instructions. As I write this review I have received a set of longer screws through the post which fit perfectly.

but it is a solid and heavy lock that seems to be of great quality for the price
I used this to replace a similar lock from a different manufacturer on our server room door - it slotted in perfectly. I have only had it in place for a couple months now so I can't comment much on the durability of it, but it is a solid and heavy lock that seems to be of great quality for the price. Considering the old lock cost me 3 times more and only lasted 3 years I'm pretty sure this one will be better value for money regardless.

Easy to fit and versatile
We bought 2 of these for locking two internal doors at our church. We used to have key locks, but keys kept being lost etc.We have now fitted the combination locks, they were relatively easy to fit, they are sturdy and the fact that the combination can be changed makes them ideal
