Everything You Need in One Resource
I don't get to travel west of the Hudson River too often, but having heard of some of the impressive waterfalls out there, I decided to schedule a one-day odyssey to conduct some landscape photography. Having photographed throughout Southern New England for a number of years, I'm very familiar with how difficult it can sometimes be to find parking lots, navigate to trailheads or track down certain landforms. Thus, I knew that if I was going to hit up several waterfalls in one day, I would need some help from an experienced source. This waterfall guide was precisely what I needed. While information about most of the waterfalls of the Catskills can be found in various places online, this book pulls everything together in one, thorough resource. For that matter, when I was actually out and about in the Catskills, it was nice to have a book with all the information I needed rather than having to rely on 3G/4G cellphone service to look things up on-the-fly.This book probably doesn't list all the waterfalls out there, but it lists more than enough to keep you busy for a week. In addition, you'll find that a couple waterfalls which are discussed are later mentioned as being posted and effectively inaccessible for that reason; it's like he's teasing the reader with out-of-reach waterfalls! All joking aside though, the book is an excellent resource a very useful guide for those who are looking to get out into Catskill Park and see the incredible waterfalls of southeastern New York State.

Great info
This guide is full of great practical and historic information but the maps are mostly useless and the photos are, for the most part, poor quality. Another annoyance is how the author shows the falls on a locator map and references them by number but doesn't give the page where the specific info can be found. Instead you have to find the list of falls further on in the book to find the page number. It would be so simple and SO much better to give the page with the name from the locator like other such guides. He does this in his Adirondack guide as well.

publish one in color!
ok book for finding waterfalls but I like color. It gets you to the spot but it is hard to judge whether you really want to go there or not since the inferior B&W pics do not show the true story. I know, the book would be more expensive in color but I'd pay it. My only complaint. Other than that, worth the price.

Good details!
I only used two chapters of this book. When I visited the waterfalls described in these two chapters, I found the information up to date and accurate. It covered everything I wanted to know before I went.

needs better org
skimpy on details - I do not like the way it is organized - seems there could have been a better way to chart the contents than just the TOC
