standard tool that levels up
I needed a new utility knife and this one with an auto load feature looked promising, so I ordered one and it came earlier than expected. First impressions were that it felt sturdy enough in my hand and unlike some others, the blades didn't wobble. Reassuring silence was also met when I gave it a shake too. So far so good. In use, the blades keep well placed and being able to change the blades so easily and quickly is great for my needs. My only reservation would be that you only get to use one half of the blade, unless you retrieve it and put it in the other way when loading. But I can't find any manufacturer that has an automated process for that, so i can live with it. A great sturdy tool though that hasn't let me down. Very recommended

A utility knife that does the job and can take plenty of punishment and still look new
A good sized, sturdy utility knife. Sits well in the hand, blades easy to change, and looks like it could take plenty of punishment. Bought this to replace my Stanley FatMax, which in comparison, is a bit crap.

Brilliant idea let down by BAD design
I tried this if only for the auto-loading system. It does work of a fashion but sticks sometimes and does not grab the next blade. What really lets it down though is the plastic cover on the blade storage. It protrudes about 5mm from the handle and bends towards the ends. Apart from safety, because perhaps after time a blade might slip out, but it looks awful in design. Far better to use a metal cover as many reviewers have stated. My other knife is a TurboKnifePro which i 've had many years, but the rubbers are starting to get sticky and loose. This is why I tried this new Clauss knife. I said BAD design perhaps should have said BAD materials, namely plastic cover. Anyway enough said.

Sturdy
Had a lot of stanley styles over the years and this one is definitely one of the better and sturdier ones, can recommend it highly.

Broke after 5 minutes
Unpacked tried the self feed and it worked for 2 blades then stopped and jammed up, I cleared the jam and now the blade removal button won't work

I love these knives
I love these knives. We have several around the office and they get constant use. Easy blade changing and storage are a must for us, and these just work. What else could you ask for?

Blades are crap.
Have not had this knife for long and I only use it DIY. However the spring loaded blade door is already loose and the include blades will no take much abuse. I was using them to cut vinyl plank flooring and the tips of 4 blades broke off. I eventually changed to a heavy duty blade from another company.

In my opinion...
It could be a good knife. I like the body- all metal, with pieces nicely matched and interlocked with each other, with cool chamfers and cute details like a rim around that red blade release button, and joints and even grip pads established to augment your control. It all leaves the impression of a solid heavy-duty tool you might want to keep around until you notice the "secret compartment". I don't like the blades compartment, that cheap plastic cap flying on cheap plastic hinges. Cap surface doesn't correspond to the flow of the body curves. The edges just don't match nicely. "Clauss" devised an entire mechanism to keep the plastic lid shut and so two springs were employed to get the job done: a bended flexible metal plate which helps you to open the compartment and a a tiny spring to push plastic tongue which helps you to keep it closed. The first one looks OK but promises to part with the lid in the place of a plastic-fixed joint. The second one looks even more sturdy and promises to outlive the beveled plastic tongue it pinches against the metal body. Some other things I'd like to mention: Ergonomic design is good but the slider on a hinging cover ruins the idea for me: it gets in the way of my thumb way to often. Not a big deal but if we talk ergonomics and reliability my suggestion to manufacturer would be to get rid off plastic cap, make a metal one on metal hinges with a flushed revolving locking mechanism, operated with a flat screwdriver or a penny. Or something. Jack up the price to accommodate and I shall consider a new purchase. So can I recommend it? I wish I could. Not for a heavy use at least. It might serve you well on occasions but one can't rely on it as on a professional or contractor grade tool. Check out "Stanley" selection instead and get a metal one with or without jazz-ups. One way to alleviate the cap problem is to put a piece of rubber band over it. Sheer amount of blades provided by manufacturer and auto-loading feature compensate for inability to access the blade compartment "on the fly". You will need to make sure rubber band has a cut-out on it's top part to allow for the blade extraction slider movement and that it sits tight on the body of your knife. Summary: Lovely tool potentially, though in the current stage it looks like a prototype of something more thoughtful. Provided Lifetime Warranty(!) doesn't compute but surely falls on a bright side of your consumer considerations. Overall design is good, implementation is not. It just doesn't cut it.P.S. I've noticed a good review so I might got a lemon, though I doubt it highly. You get what you pay for and this knife fits the pattern perfectly. Magnetic auto-loader, solid body, life time warranty and one significant but redeemable turn-off are the reasons why I'll give this knife four stars instead of three. Merchant is great. I got my knife from MSC Industrial Supply Co. They handled my order superbly and shipped fast. Delivery was also quick.

easy blade changes
Really like the ease of changing a blade. No more taking a screw out to make the change...Good innovation. plenty of storage for new blades.
