Just like the ones in the USA diners!
Bought this as sugar bowls get very mucky in my house, too many wet spoons. I grew up with these in diners and many eateries in the USA. This is perfect. It dispenses a teaspoon of sugar each time which has actually stopped us from putting "..another half for luck." in. Its NOT freeflowing like some. Veery happy with purchase and would recommend.

Useful sugar dispenser
I purchased this item as a replacement for a similar type I had for many years.This dispenser works well and dispenses the equivalent of one teaspoon of sugar.The item is as described.As mentioned by other reviewers, the metal surfaces of the "spout" are quite sharp and I would have liked a cap to cover the open end. My previous dispenser was better in those respects.
