DRiBOX FL-1859-285G IP55 Medium Weatherproof Box - Green

We are off to France again in our motorhome. A couple of the sites we have booked this time advise that a 30m hookup cable may be required. Ours is pretty big but I assume is 25m (a common size) and so to avoid any last minute embarrassment after pitching up and breaking the first beer out and then finding I can't plug in, I have bought an additional 10m cable. I can then use one or the other as needed, or both joined together.Search the net for advice on joining cables and you will find every possible answer - it's ok, it's not ok, sites don't allow it, sites are fine with it, some sites even lend you cables to do this, it's illegal, it's legal, the voltage drop on a cable that long will mean nothing will work properly, the voltage drop on a cable that long will be negligible, the plugs are designed for this, the plugs are designed to be rain proof off the ground but not puddle proof on the ground, it might kill a child, children don't ever go near it and could kill themselves in hundreds of different ways on a campsite anyway, and so on. Short of making up your own enormous cable, I don't know what you are supposed to do on sites where the mains is 30+ metres away, other than daisy chain.So, being a responsible nerd, I decided I would do it, but that I'd take precautions, hence this box. It is quite big, but with two industrial plugs joined up with not very bendy cable emerging, you need this size, the smaller one would be too small. So I won't be causing any trips to drop out in the rain, and it even comes with a couple of cable ties and there are holes where you can insert them to effectively lock it, thus keeping any passing casual childish prying fingers out. Obviously you will need a supply of your own ties if you want to keep doing this as you will have to cut them off to open it.I even chose green so it would blend in... a bit...

Does what it is supposed to do! Better than some of the others that are on the market.

The box itself is really well made. Once it is closed it is totally weather proof…. So far so good anyway! It was slightly larger than I would have liked. The small size was far too small then from this to medium box it’s quite a large jump. Somewhere in-between would have been perfect. The colour is a little bright and personally I would have preferred a slightly darker green but hopefully once the garden starts to bloom in the summer it will be hidden. On the whole I am rather happy with my purchase.

I bought this to house a four-gang 13amp socket for use at the base of a tree on which I wanted to add Christmas lights and it works fine. The four-gang socket fits nicely and there is enough height for the four transformer plugs. the only reason I didn't give this five-star is that the lid is tricky to close whilst trying to trap the wires in place, it would have been perfect if the designers had included some sort of cable-tie mechanism (either inside or out) to hold the cables in place whilst you close the lid.

Item as described and value for money does the job

We ordered this from GM Garden & Home who use Royal Mail to deliver the parcel, and delivery was very slow- we ordered 26 November, it wasn't delivered until 9th December, (the listing stated that delivery would be by the 3rd) and we were unable to track the progress- very frustrating. The box seems good though- sturdy and well made, with lots of seals to prevent water getting in.

Delivery was fast, product packaged well. The quality of the box is good and it looks robust and water-tight. Just be careful, I bought a 4-gang heavy duty 10m extension cable from B&Q (blue coloured, if you've seen it) and it was about 5mm too long for this box, because of the moulded cable. Instead I've had to use a cheaper 4-gang extension which I bought from a supermarket. That said, I've re-used the B&Q cable elsewhere and I've had no issues to date with the cheaper white extension that I bought

This is a brilliant product, it has a lockable clamped top. The DriBox Medium size one which is weather resistant, can take up to 25 metres of cable and a 4 point socket, so that you can store it when not in use. It is great piece of kit. I will be using it in the garden for our Christmas lights as it is green in colour as to be les visible to anyone.
