I had been hearing a lot about the gut 'flora', the bacterial balance in the intestine, and some further research revealed that for all aspects of our general health, the gut flora does indeed need to be healthy.So, I began looking for a short-term supplement which would do that job - I've had quite a lot of anti-biotics and I'm now in my 50s, so it made sense that my own gut flora might well be sub-standard, and this kind of 'top-up' might contribute to my general health. The advertised 33 'pro-biotic strains' should certainly help - shouldn't they?The picture of the label on the back of the box shows a section referring to "Colon Care", and another referring to "Colon Transit"; the 'care' section was 4 times the size of the 'transit' section, so I assumed that the majority of the product's benefits were 'care'-oriented, as opposed to relating to 'transit'.However, after taking the product for about a week and a half, I began to become concerned that in practice, the product promoted bowel movements more than I needed... In fact, I didn't need any help with my 'movements', and I wondered whether the effect of this product might be artificially 'helping' a process that needed no help, so I stopped taking them, to find out...The result was instant constipation! What was really alarming was that the constipation caused by taking (and then stopping) this product lasted for weeks! Now, at almost 2 months after I stopped taking the product, my 'movements' have just about returned to how they were before.I find this most alarming. I bought this product for the 'healthy' benefits that its "Supplement Facts" suggested, but I am not prepared to become dependent upon it as a laxative, particularly when it is so much more expensive than other laxatives - which I didn't need anyway!So, if you're looking for a healthy gut flora, this product may deliver it, but I can't say - I'm glad I stopped taking it when I did, as I simply can't afford the financial cost of being dependent upon it for its help with bowel movements.Perhaps if nothing else works, and you are wealthy, this product may be the Rolls Royce of laxatives, and that alone could bring profound peace of mind! But if you're just looking to pep-up your gut flora, be warned that however healthy this product makes it, you'll need to keep taking it for your gut to function at all!This product equates 'Experience' with 'Constipation' - as the old saying goes, it's what I got when I was looking for something else!

I've struggled with gut problems and immune problems for a long time. My boyfriend bought me these; I literally couldn't believe how much they helped me.

Garden of Life products are probably the best raw food health based products on the market. The problem I have with this item is that it states on the box something along these lines (box recycled) “delivered chilled to assure cultures arrive alive”. I read elsewhere that someones order, not necessarily from this seller or Amazon, arrived with an ice gel pack to keep contents chilled. Yet this arrived like all other Amazon orders. Therefore I am left wondering whether the product is therefore damaged or less effective now!I aim to email Garden of Life themselves and request their view on whether the contents delivered unchilled are no longer in ‘good health’; of course it could just be a gimmick.

This is a great product, I definatly recomended, the only thing I don't like about this product, the packaging is too big, when you open the case 1/5 of the package is full and it's expensive.
