Spear & Jackson 4862RSA Razorsharp Active Soft-Grip Hand Shear

Having previously owned a much cheaper set of shears I have to confess to being disappointed with these.The build quality is excellent and the handle grip and action is very good. My issue is with what others have described as their cutting sharpness. I'm afraid I have to disagree and say they don't cut anything like as well or cleaning as the other shears I have used. They just don't seem to have the sharpness.I'm also unconvinced about the serated edge that I thought would grip branches well. It doesn't, they actually slip when attempting to cut.Overall, I wish I'd bought another product and feel as if the brand just hasn't met my expectations.

I genuinely don’t think you can go wrong with Spear and Jackson gardening products. I have a mower and secateurs from their range as well. Very reliable and sturdy.They are indeed razor sharp, easy to use and clearly very well made. I have fibromyalgia so struggle with my hands but found the grip on these really comfy.Definitely highly recommend.

These shears are amazing! I have used thew to trim back really had to prune bushes in my garden and they have a notch on the blade for branches.The rubber grip handles are really comfortable to hold and soft and they have a shock absorber so when you cut something really hard it does not go up your arm.They are great and make really hard gardening jobs a doddle that take half the time.They also have a 5 year warrenty and were delivered really quickly.Cannot recommend enough!

we replaced our ancient pair with these and they do a very good job even on the thicker part our shrubs and ivy have never looked so tidy

These seem to be a reasonably strong construction with quite a long cutting blades and handles which gives a good reach across larger shrubs/hedging. In use on woody shrubs they cut quite well. My only criticism would be I find the handle too slim a thicker grip with a better covering giving a slightly softer feel would have been better. Other than that issue pleased so far with this product

Very sharp bladed clippers with a notch for small woody branches. Could have done with the handles being a little longer but otherwise, a handy pair of clippers.

Excellent set of shears, comfortable to use and not too heavy, they really are sharp! Got the to trim some rather overgrown shrubs and they did the job perfectly

I bought these to replace an old wooden handled pair made by somebody else that were never really efficient and made heavy work of what should have been easy tasks. These are vastly superior, well engineered and designed, lighter in weight, sharper and enabled me to trim the edges of my lawns far faster, with greater precision, than before. I also have a stainless steel S&J edge cutter. In over 45 years of gardening, I know of no better maker of garden hand tools. Highly recommended.
