Great idea but…
The idea is great, however if you don’t use the finger protector some the edges are quite sharp and make little cuts in the finger. We ended up returning it.

The media could not be loaded. I may be almost 60, but I'm only just learning about this whole mindful breathing thing. And I'm thinking it's probably a pretty good idea since with asthma etc and when I get stressed I forget to breathe, you know not totally, but I'm always told by physical therapists to remember to breathe. So when I saw these GiftAmaz Mindful Maze Boards with such colorful appealing patterns on them, I was excited! I know, they're supposed to be calming toys and excited is the opposite of that, but I figure once I start breathing with them I will calm down again How's that sound. 😀The only other time I saw a similar breathing kind of board like this was in another companies kindergarten teaching homeschool kit and I thought that was pretty cool that they're teaching about self-care so young. I wish they did that when I was in school. But the neat thing about theirs was that although it was gray scale, it was flocked whatever they call, you know kind of like a velvety feeling when you rub your finger over it. and that kind of helped with the calmness I think. These don't have that velvety feel, they're just the shiny smoothness of a really good quality durable cardboard. but it's still nice. They do provide kids sized mind you little finger tip thingies, probably made out of silicone, that kids can wear. maybe it will make them slow down on the board. it would me, but I don't like the feel as much so I probably won't be using that.Another thing I noticed is because these are designed for young children the breathing in and breathing out times can be pretty short especially if you don't slow your finger down. But slowing your finger down will be helpful.Another thing I can suggest is my counselor has a been teaching me about diaphragmatic breathing and that's a really big word to say something with actually quite a lot of steps in it in a way besides just breathing out. You breathe in through your nose and then you breathe out through your pursed lips as if you've just tasted a lemon or something like that. And meanwhile you're holding near your chest and your belly and...please look it up because I still haven't gotten it down yet. But it might be useful to coordinate with these boards, whether it's for the child or you're using them for you for self care.I really like the assortment of designs on them and I love that a couple of them have pretty groovy rainbow like colors. It's cool that they have the rings to hold them together or you can take them apart to share with several children at once or adults. like I said this will be good to help teach me mindful breathing and I'm going to share with my grandson as well. The photographs show you more details. These Calming Toys for Kids are made in China. They're officially called Finger Path Breathing Boards and would be good for a Calming Corner at home or school for kids Social Emotional Learning and Mindfulness. Or stick them in your Sensory Toys Box for Kids ages 3 4 5 6 Years (and up! Don't forget the senior citizen kids at heart like moi! 😁

CALMING TECHNIQUE
When a child is anxious, angry, or upset and needs calming down, these finger mazes could really help. There could be an established spot in the room for just calming down with these finger mazes in them. The cards have paths grooved in them for a child to follow with their finger, practicing breathing in and out as they follow the maze. Each maze is marked for when to breathe in and when to breathe out. The child would have to be guided a few times to understand what to do but could develop a habit of going to this corner to calm down and take a few deep breaths. This can help a child reduce anxiety and cope with the frustrating situation. This finger maze set is a nice, sturdy set of cards that can be held together with the enclosed binder rings. The enclosed silicone fingertips are optional, as far as I'm concerned. A finger could work just as well (and be less frustrating). It reminds me of being taught to count to ten before reacting to things as a child.

Quiet Activity
Really well made made and thought-out item. Boards (pages) are quality, thick, durable with wonderful colors (not bright, not dull), excellent coating makes it easy to move finger along but coating stops wear and tear. An excellent item to quiet a child...IF you can get child to sit (floor, bed, chair, desk, wherever it works) and do the task of moving finger slowly and breath in-and-out when finger reaches the next word (breath-in or breath-out), We did not make child HAVE to breath in/out according to the words, he just had to do the in and out breaths on his own when his finger crossed a word. He can't read so this worked. It is also good for when you need a quiet activity like on an airplane. Limited age interest, not over 5-6 years old.
