Having bought other Alan Titchmarsh products, I thought I was in safe hands. Well, I was wrong! The balls are very hard and the only way, I can get ANY birds to eat them is by smashing them to pieces. Which obviously means that I cannot put them into a hanging feeder. Incidentally having smashed them open - there's hardly any seeds/grains in them at all. Don't waste your money - buy Erdtmanns (I know that they are more expensive but you can actually see what you pay for and the birds love them).

Alan Titchmarsh's Fat Balls
All the birds love Alan Titchmarsh's Fat Balls, but in particular the tits (I wish there were some other way to phrase this, but there just isn't - welcome to Carry On Up The Amazon), and the robins - I have one of those big round feeders and put five new balls in every week and they hoover through them at great speed.Definitely a good buy.

One Star
Great disappointment the balls are stone hard, even when broken with a mallet the contents have no interest

Not impressed
Too hard. Too many corn grains. Not liked. The starlings will have a pop at them, but I'm yet to see any tit show an interest. In fact it's just the starlings. I like starlings though and don't like seeing them struggle to get a good feed. So, after yet another letdown on the fat ball front I've started to make them myself. Lard, cheap flour(absolutely not self raising) and peanuts. Grind peanuts to powder and place in bucket. Mix with flour. Fold melted lard into peanut/flour mix using a plaster paddle on trusty drill. Mix thoroughly. Roll into balls. Allow to cool. Feed to birds. Birds absolutely love them. The balls don't last long, but then that's what you want. And because they are so cheap I can feed lots of them.

Perfect
I bought these after reading the great reviews. I was not disappointed with the product but was disappointed that next day delivery was not available so I ordered another brand the next time. They were not a patch on Alan's balls. These balls are firm and last considerably longer than other brands. I soon came back for Alan's superior balls. The birds love them! Highly recommend. Hope these are always available to order.

Fat Balls
I bought these (expensive, especially when p&p in included!) fat balls which, it was said, were easy to crumble and much more nutritious than the common or garden variety. Well, they don't crumble! They're rock hard and splinter, as I discovered when trying to pierce one with a sharp knife, which shot off, through my glove and cut my finger! The birds don't seem that keen either, so much for their 'special treat' for Christmas! In future I'll stick to the 6 for £1 variety! (Oh, but they're definitely not sticky!)

Too Hard. The Birds aren't Really Bothered.
Too hard. The birds don't like them anywhere near as much as those from Pets at Home at only £4 a bucket. Perhaps some ornithologist would tell us they are far more nutritional for the birds and make them work harder for their treat, but they just go elsewhere.

If you're looking for a truly effective bird repellent, ...
If you're looking for a truly effective bird repellent, this is it. One day after putting these in our usually incredibly active bird feeder, there's not a bird to be seen in our garden. They came, they tried, they went away. Mr Titchmarsh, please try harder.
