Molymod MMS-009 Inorganic/Organic Chemistry Molecular Model, Student Set (52 Atom Parts)

Excellent teaching aid for parents with younger children at the start of their learning about chemistry trying to under the concepts of atoms, molecules, what columns of periodic table actually means and valency which kids find difficult to grasp (they can count the holes in the atom balls and play at mix-and-match atoms to make stable molecules). Great for showing how everyday substances relate to actual molecules and helping to explain physical properties like why things are gas, why water is liquid, how solvents work etc. Includes sheet of example molecules that children can build for fun e.g. from water to cyclohexane which looks like a crown etcQuite expensive for contents in the box but the set is well thought out and well made and per above is a quick win for helping your kids.

My son used these a lot for his A levels in biology and chemistry. It really helped him memorise bonds etc.My daughter is now going to use them throughout her IGCSEs.Needed for science study.

Molymod is a standard kit for any science teacher who has to teach structure and shape of molecules. The student set is the cheaper option for the impoverished teacher and probably only the keenest of science students will buy it. But it will hopefully be provided for them to use at school or college for visualising the shapes of simple inorganic and organic molecules. As a chemistry teacher, I wish I had bought one of these kits years ago, because it's lovely to own, and one can plan lessons ahead for the students. I never cease to admire and wonder at the simple beauty of molecular shapes. As you can gather, I love this topic!

good quality, not enough for chemistry degree level (need two of those kits)

Lots of Molymod kits to choose from but this one gives a good mix for simple organic molecules and for shapes of molecules including pegs for lone pairs. A few more carbons would’ve been nice but not essential. Just right for A Level Chemistry students.

Excellent present for young learners

Currently doing a chemical science degree and this kit has helped me understand more of the molecular structure of some organic compounds. I find this kit is useful for anyone struggling with aspects of inorganic/organic chemistry, but it can be useful for everyone really! I would happily recommend this product to anyone who is interested in chemistry, struggling with chemistry or enjoys chemistry :)

As a new (and aged) scientist I finally gave in to demands by my husband to buy this set. It has made the flat molecules on the paper come alive and I confess has answered a lot of puzzles that I had when trying to work out what molecules being described actually look like. It is not large so I am thinking of buying another set in order to be able to create bigger molecules but is certainly a great starter kit and very robust too.

Best set on the market and worth the extra money! This is like the lego of the Chem world! - Includes flat “paddles” to represent a lone pair electrons. This will help you understand why bond angles change. Consult Tyler Dewitt on YouTube for explanations. Contains enough parts to build a glucose molecule, various nitrogenous compounds, green for halogens, and assorted other atoms as shown for university level courses, long flexible bonds for double and triple bonds, as well as short bonds. This was purchased as an instructor’s set during during COVID. Will not fall apart as you rotate the molecule to demonstrate properties during COVID videos.

This is an excellent product to teach the shapes of molecules. It produces authentic shaped molecules with correct angles and includes single, double and triple bonds. With a good number of common atoms, many common molecules can be constructed including simple inorganic and organic molecules. I think it is useful for interested chemistry students from beginners to advanced. I am a bit disappointed though that it includes some metal oxides and hydroxides in the guide that are not molecular.

Quite good. The fit of connectors is good.
