Compact and Competent
When motherhood launched me in to the world of competitive birthday-cake-baking, a sympathetic friend mentioned airbrushes as being a great way to get the subtle shading effects that simply aren’t possible with coloured fondant. Airbrushing is a lot cheaper too as the pigments last ages and can be mixed together. This one caught my eye especially as the compressor looked compact and the airbrush seemed to be all-metal so I judged that it would pack away easily and would be durable too. There was another similar package which cost more yet came with only three colours. True, it included a bag and a DVD but I didn’t want those. I wanted the eight colours, not least because I needed black for the Hallowe’en cake I had in mind.I don’t have Amazon Prime but even with the ordinary postal service my parcel arrived quickly, well packed, contents nicely cushioned with compostable packing peanuts (I approve!) and the parcel tracking meant I could track its progress and be advised when it would arrive. So far, I’m impressed. The airbrush is indeed all-metal and nicely weighted so that it sits well in the hand. The choice between high, medium or low compression means that it is easy to control the flow while you work up your confidence with it. Pulling back on the trigger retracts the needle and thus increases the flow rate and you can vary the coverage area by moving the nozzle away from the cake surface.I blew some clean water through it first, to make sure it was all clean and to give me a bit of practice. As soon as I turned the compressor on I could feel a little bit of air coming through the nozzle and was a bit concerned that liquid might already be being sprayed but a quick feel with my finger put my mind at rest; the liquid truly does only dispense when the trigger is pulled back.I took a bit of time preparing the area: made myself a little spray-booth from kitchen paper, put a bit of clean water in a tiny cup with the pipette and also another small, wide glass of clean water into which I could spray out any remaining pigment between colour changes. I used the pipette to squirt clean water into the airbrush when cleaning it through and also to dilute the pigment a bit. This was especially useful for the smaller areas of colour – I only needed a drop of colour but that wasn’t sufficient liquid to be fired through the airbrush so an additional drop or two of water really helped that and didn’t affect the quality of the colour. It did mean that I had to be patient and allow each colour to dry as the extra water would have encouraged bleeding between the colours but if you are using the tool properly and building up the coverage in thin layers, then this isn’t a problem. It also helps the colours go further (I’m a Yorkshirewoman). I didn’t experience any of the problems with colour leaking out of the airbrush in between uses but if you’re worried about this, just switch off the compressor at the power button until you want to start spraying again. You may want to do this anyway as with the airbrush docked into its holder on the side of the compressor, it did judder a bit but once the airbrush is taken out of the holder the compressor is perfectly steady.I’m really pleased with how easy this was to use and would definitely recommend both the kit and the seller.

Sensational!
I wish I had bought this earlier. I spent months wondering whether it was worth it. My husband bought another air brush for 3D printed items that he never used and tried to get me to use, but the compressor is triple the size of this one and there are pages and pages of instructions on how to use... I was tired just looking at it. This one is small and really, really easy to use. No need for instructions! (there is a one page utilisation guide with pictures, but honestly you don't need it). It's comfortable to hold. Received yesterday and this is my first creation! I used it on a cake covered with a white chocolate mirror glaze to try and create the appearance of an apple. I am a home baker and this was my first attempt at creating an apple cake that looked like an apple. There is no way I would have been able to paint a mirror glaze without it. I also tried on modelling chocolate and it works great. I am sure it will be amazing on fondant as well. Really happy with this purchase.

Good product.
I had chance to use my new airbrush yesterday. I’m making a mermaid cake so used it to colour all the “underwater” things such as starfish, fish, seaweed, swimming mermaids etc as well as the mermaid tails & open clam shells for the top of the cake. I would normally sit for ages with a paintbrush to colour all the bits & pieces but it took just a matter of minutes with the airbrush. The colours are far brighter & more intense than you can achieve with just a paintbrush. It was so easy to use and the results were so effective. And so easy to clean too. Looking forward to getting the “sea” effect on the actual cake.

For occasional use
I bought this airbrush because it was the first one in arrive and I was in a rush, surprisingly it's good, it's not loud, easy to use, small, and the wires are long which is really convenient but the way it's attached to the machine and the pistol could be better. The food coloring is really good, you'll need just few drops to get a nice coverage but the gold and silver aren't good at all, those give you more like a pearl finish instead, really disappointing!I think this airbrush is good to use occasionally, not if you are going to use it a lot.

Excellent kit and great value!
First airbrush I’ve ever had, was easy to put together, easy to use and easy to clean. My very first cake I used it on (see photo) was a Jurassic Park cake. I used the airbrush on the cake board, on the bottom tier and I sprayed the dinosaur head with it. Excellent results for all parts of the cake, I can’t wait to use it again. It’s also small and compact, so easy to store. Would highly recommend.

Broke instantly, replacement perfect
I took this out the packaging, turned it on to see if it worked, it did. Added some food dye to the gun turned it on again to start using it only to find it no longer worked.I struggled to get a replacement sent through Amazon. In the end I contacted the manufacturer direct. They asked if the issue was the plug or the compressor I had no idea so they sent new ones of both and a prepaid packaging label to return the broken item and the replacement I didn't need. Have used a few times, the product itself is great and I have no complaints, my ability is just lacking. Great product though and the customer service was impeccable.

Needs written instructions
It works fine but had to look up an instructional video, especially on how to clean it.

Wish I had got one sooner
I found it easy to use and the control you have is brilliant. The instructions are a little poor on how to clean it properly, I’ve been googling but still not a hundred percent I am doing it correctly but I just blast water through it and spray until clean. Impressed with results on cake. The only fault I could find was the black colour went green when left to soak in white icing but several more coats seemed to rectify this, I think it something to do with how the black colour is made. But I love it and purchased more colours direct from supplier
