The bright shining sixties' version of the future came to Canada in 1967, the country's one-hundredth birthday--a time when everything seemed possible. The Canadian Experience explores the exhilarating experience of Expo 67, which had a lasting personal impact on a generation of Canadians, and launched Canada as an enthusiastic participant in the global village. From today's perspective, it's hard to imagine how little Canadians of the sixties knew of their own country. But with Expo, as the highlight of the Centennial Year, Canadians took to the highways and sped onward to Montreal. For many, the journey there was a first chance to see Canada, and their first exposure to the racy, exotic world of big-city Montreal. In turn, visitors from Europe, with their heads full of images of snowy wastelands and Eskimos, were won over by the sophistication of the sparkling futuristic pavilions of Expo. Expo was Canada's coming out party. Full page ads in the world press spelled it out, World...this is Canada.

Like all CBC documentaries
Like all CBC documentaries, it was well done πIt was like a walk back to yesterday. I was only 7 then but I vividly remember the innocence and excitement of being in Canada π¨π¦ in 1967. Thank You π for the walk back to a more gentler time .

Canadian Experience Expo 67- Back To The Future
This was a trip down memory lane for me having attended this fair. The video was VERY well done, I usually don't care for memory type interviews but this film made them interesting. This DVD is expensive but if you were there or are really into Worlds Fairs, It's well worth your time and money. It left me wanting to borrow Marty McFly's time traveling Delorean and go back and see it all again.

I thought it would be like a tour
Not what I expected , I thought it would be like a tour, it was not. It was very dry.

Brings Back Memories
Terrific CBC production of Expo 67, the grand World's Fair in Montreal. Great memories of the fair itself and the 60's decade in general.

very Canadian
OK, I get that Expo 67 was some sort of watershed historical moment in Canadian society. Sadly, I was too young and far too interested in the Apollo space program to care about this. This DVD helps fill in those blanks, but I really wanted more on the pavilions and to see much much more of what Expo 67 was like architecturally. Not that the DVD is bad at all, but it could have been so much better. The extras are pathetic as all we get the original TV broadcast of the opening which other than the camera panning over the site and some info on what was what, it is a total snoozefest watching dignitaries speak.
