It works, but is not the best designed enclosure I’ve tested
This M.2 NVMe SSD Tool-Free enclosure looks good, but the construction and quality make me wonder how long it will last. First thing I noticed was the tool free part of this enclosure is true. Yes they are no screws to deal with, but that is because everything snaps together, and that in my opinion is not the best way to enclose a delicate $100 to $400, M.2 MVMe SSD.Then there is the potential for heat bill up damaging the NVMe, because the case is so thin there is no room for air or thermal pads in the case to help disperse heat. The vents on the end look good, but unless you have a fan blowing into them, I have doubts that they are big enough to let hot air get out to help cool the drive. The final thing I noticed is the tiny light on the enclosure that shows the drive is reading, writing, or even connected was not working, Not a good sign of quality control. The Drive enclosure does work, and speeds are acceptable, but I have found better enclosures in my testing.

Cheaply made, no head sink or heat transfer pad provided
I was hoping this would at least on a par with other M.2 enclosures that I have, but it was a bit of a disappointment.First the form and fit. The plastic latch mechanism that you press to unlock the case has some very rough edges. Maybe even enough to cut your fingers if you move them the wrong way while holding it. This could just be a quality control issue and maybe I just got a bad one.Unlike the other similar cases I have the locking mechanism is plastic as mentioned, and I'm not sure over time how well that would hold up. So you need to be aware of that. Also, unlike the other cases, this does NOT include any kind of heatsink or even a thermal pad. You will want to keep an eye on the temperature of your SSD. So you need to keep that in mind.If you can live with the shortcomings it does perform OK, and the price isn't too bad. But I don't think I would order another one of these next time I need an M.2 case.

Follow Webpage Directions
Translations on Amazon listing and in the box are not done well: need to be reworked. The box this comes in definitely lets you know you are buying Chinese. The aluminum enclosure looks sleek, but some parts are plastic and edges are not completely smoothed, so be careful where you put you fingers and don't slide too quickly.I thought a thermal sink should be included, but not sure why it is not. I'll monitor the temperature of the enclosure until I'm confident the temperature is under control.

Easy to install, fast in operation
I have a number of external backup drives for both my desktop and laptop. They work fine if I'm willing to run them overnight but I wanted to try something faster and so I bought a 1TB m.2 SSD and this very inexpensive enclosure. It was easy to install the drive in the enclosure, you just slide out the tray and mount the drive, securing it with the provided clip. The drive has a single USB-C female connector on the end. To help with heat transfer there is very little clearance between the top of the drive and the aluminum enclosure and there is no room for a thermal transfer pad. In my testing the enclosure gets warm but not too hot to hold, so I am trusting that the heat-design of the enclosure works.I first tested with a tiny 64GB 2230 EMMC drive that I had on hand. Speeds were pretty poor, around 200MB/sec read and write as expected from an EMMC. I also ordered a Fanxiang S500 Pro 1TB NVMe SSD from Amazon which is full 2280 size. and the results are a different story:8GB binary file transfer, Macbook Pro M1-Max 14. Mac OS Ventura Read: 930MB/sec Write: Over 1GB/sec63.3GB folder with more than 1000 uncompressed files, all sizes Read: 502MB/sec Write: 525MB/secI am very happy with those speeds. Yes, I could do better with a (more expensive) Thunderbolt enclosure but for the price this enclosure does very well for my needs. It came packaged with simple instructions and 2 superspeed USB cables, one that is USB-C to USB-C and the other USB-A to USB-C. Everything was packaged in simple recyclable cardboard, very little waste.

Clean design, good performance and no tools required
Needed an M.2 adapter to be able to install MacOS before installing M.2 drive in older iMac. I picked this specific device mainly because it matched the matte grey finish on my MacBook Pro.I was pleased that the device required no tools for installation and also came with a spare of the little clip that holds the drive in the sled. Comes with 12" cables for USB-A and USB-C.I tested performance with an HP EX 920 SSD.Overall I'm really happy. The enclosure is small and nicely rounded so will be easy to add as part of my normal travel kit. Because it doesn't require any tools I know I can mount up whatever drive I need to without needing to mess with screwdriver and some tiny screw that I'm likely to drop and lose.

Cheap but quite good NVMe enclosure
This is cheaper than others but quite good NVMe enclosure.I tested it with two NVMe drives on M1 Macbook pro.1. WD BLACK SN850 1TB Gen 4 : Max 7000/5300 MB/s2. HP EX900 M.2 500GB : Max 2100/1500 MB/2Write performance of SN850 is 55MB/s faster than EX900. And read performance almost same.I think you don't need to spent more money for NVMe drive when you use 10GB enclosure.Pros- One touch open and close. You don't need to screw driver any more.- Stable read/write performance- Very compact and slimCons- It has some gaps - almost within 1mm - between NVMe drive and enclosure case. So I'm not sure it's free from thermal issue. : It has an air hole and enclosure body is aluminum.- Quite hot- Description display read/write speed 800~1200MB/s but it does not hit even 1000MB/s with Gen4 drive.
