Fill it with oil to the recommended level first
I had an old block of concrete that was originally cast as a base for a 'leg' vice to break up. My 8LB sledge bounced off and the thought of using a hand chisel and suitable heavy hammer to remove it put me off the job for a few years. The concrete was of a high (hard) quality thanks to my late father (a retired brick layer) Thanks dad :)I bought this breaker and due to using full size road breakers many years ago, I knew it would be heavy and most likely up to the job. It took longer to get everything set up than to actually remove the concrete block totally. To say that I found this tool impressive is an understatement. I have since used this tool for other 'breaking' jobs and found it very capable for it's size.A few things to consider before using this tool. Fill it with oil to the recommended level first, as it arrives with no oil in it from the factory. This is a straightforward job to do but vital for the long term use and service life of the tool. Do not be tempted to use the tool without oil in it. Somewhat obvious I know, but you know what some people are like, they want to use "the new toy" straight away.Buy a spare set of chisel tools for it. If the chisel point gets stuck in the 'job', good luck trying to free it without a spare chisel. The wide spade chisel won't free the stuck chisel point anytime soon and will probably get damaged doing so, if it is at all successful. Draper chisels are slightly thicker than the ones supplied with this tool I found. It is also possible to snap the chisels in use, so have the spares ready, just in case. I used to snap full size heavy duty chisels in my time (the ones used to dig up roads every summer) so I am already prepared if this should happen. Once the breaker cuts off a chunk of concrete from a larger lump, the tool will try to take you forward with it's momentum (weight) so be ready for it and have good footing when using the breaker. The breaker will only 'hammer' when the tip of the chisel is in contact with the object to be broken up, so don't be fooled into thinking it isn't working right when you switch on and the chisel point isn't moving.DON'T BE TEMPTED TO PUT YOUR HAND ON THE END OF THE CHISEL. Obvious I know, but you do get some people who might try this out.Put a thin strip of old leather under the rotating band of the side handle. The side handle of these tools is designed to rotate, but I found this feature annoying/dangerous, as I felt I didn't have positive control of the breaker at all times. Once tight, the side handle will then remain in the position you put it in, which means you have a positive grip on the tool while in operation. A tool this heavy needs positive control of it at all times, but if someone tells you different on this matter, let them use the tool for you and keep clear while they do so.Wear safety goggles, as the concrete will fly off in all directions. Do not use this tool next to a glasshouse if you can avoid doing so, the glass is very brittle in glasshouses and will break easily from flying 'bits'. These tools are for mainly DIY use and not for digging roads up full time. They will break up a concrete driveway as a one off sort of job, or go through a stone wall (cottage etc.) but you may want a bigger tool than this for a very long driveway of many yards length i.e. longer than a car etc.I highly recommend this tool for DIY use and occasional building work (cutting doorways, removing an old path etc.) but be aware of it's weight and power and wear strong work boots with steel toecaps, as toes belong on the end of your feet, NOT in the dirt a few feet away. This applies to ANY tool of this type of course, so always think before you pull the trigger.Using this tool is addictive (for it's power and ease of doing the job) so plan plenty of work for it before you start is my advice!!

Excellent tool, a big hitter
Excellent tool, a big hitter. My local hire shop charge £ 64.00 per week for a medium breaker so I felt this was worth buying for under £95.00. So it was.At 21Kg it is heavy but breaking is heavy work. I am using it to break rocky ground for fence posts. A 600mm long chisel would be useful but I have not as yet been able to source any.I am almost certain this is an identical machine to others on this site priced at up to £160.00The machines handbook instructions are not very clear. The machine has an oil sight glass which appears dry so I contacted the seller, this was their response :-" Hi, the maschine is ready for first use, just like it arrives. There is some oil inside. For long term use you should add oil. You can use any pneumatic oil you have. If you have further questions let us know."

worth every penny.
I was massively impressed by this hammer, I had a concrete block under my garden that needed to destroy to put the foundations for a decking, it was 1.6m long, 0.6m wide and 0.4m thick, this hammer destroyed it without any problems or hassle in less than 10 minutes, I was going to rent one but a smaller and less powerful one for half of buying this one, without mentioning that they are all 110v (rental ones) and you will need to rent or buy a transformer if you don't own one.The box that comes with a bit cheap, manual is in German, the item is delivered from Germany but ordered on a Wednesday, arrived by Monday!.

Bang and the patio is gone
Bought this back in May to do a large area of patio, about 10 square meters. This was going down between 3" and 5" of a very solid concrete. I know the mix was strong with this as I did it (very badly as it turns out).I thought this would be a gimmick but its a very serious piece of kit. In about 3 hours mostly done, with taking lots of breaks for both me and the poor neighbours. This weighs 21kg, its not light and you will need ear defenders otherwise your ears will be left ringing with extended use.Mine came with 2 flat bits and no spike, however not going to subtract from the review as it does the job.

Good workmanlike tool for the casual user.
Had a path and shed base to break up - made mince meat of it and has done all I have asked of it - recommended. These are heavier than I remember but I am 10 years older!!!

A heavy peice of equipment.
Haven't actualy used the concrete breaker as of yet, but the item looks really solid and well made, but be aware this product is a pretty heavy peace of equipment.

Good value, works well, wife loved using it
For DIY light use this is excellent. Broke up our concrete paving well. Heavy as you would expect, but my wife handled it well!

Five Stars
made short work of the brickwork and cost was equal to hiring a similar unit - heavy but powerful
