Resurrecting Easter: Meditations for the Great 50 Days Paperback – October 20, 2013

This is part of a church-wide Devotional Study, leading up to a special Institute about Pentecost to be held the weekend of May 28, 2023. It is a marvelous addition to my library of books for studying the Faith.

Kate Moorehead continues with her mediation series on Lent and Advent with this book of meditations for the great 50 days of Easter. Dean Moorehead is a storyteller, connecting her personal stories with scriptures in the 50 days. The book is pocket size, something one can easily carry around during the day, reminding us that Easter is not just Easter Day but lasts for a season in the liturgical year. I have "borrowed" her advice given to people who have difficulty believing, especially about the resurrection. She tells them to give six months to an experiment where they "act as if he or she believes," attend church every Sunday, spend 20 minutes a day in prayer of some kind, find a way to serve the poor and give away money and resources, and then she lets them pretty much be on their own. Kate brings new vision to the scripture. She reminds us that Adam and Eve did not fall from Grace by murder or having illicit sex but by eating! She reminds those of us who find our many tasks never completed that Jesus says from the cross, " it is finished," without solving all the problems of the world, but he had finished the tasks that God had given him to do. Each day in the 50 days of Easter, Kate brings us a new insight.
