One of the best classics! Could watch over and over again!

It was a requested gift so no opinion of my own, but the receiver (aging mother) enjoyed it.

My late mums favourite film

This is a film that I have watched many times and enjoy on each occasion as well as interspersed with the voice of Bette Midler.

I fancied watching a bit of weepy film and hadn't seen this for years, so I rented it from Amazon Video. I chose the SD version as I wasn't that bothered about picture quality when using my iPad. The quality wasn't that great, but I'm not sure how different the HD version would be given that it's such an old film.Although looking a bit dated now, this film stands the test of time as it's such a fantastic portrayal of friendship, and how it evolves over the years. Bette Midler gives a great performance and I'd forgotten how well the younger version of herself was matched to the character. In a nutshell, two young girls from very different worlds meet on holiday and remain penpals over the years. They become flat mates in their 20's, before circumstance separates them again. When life doesn't turn out as expected, the two women reconnect, but unfortunately the path to this friendship never runs smoothly. No spoilers here, if by some miracle you haven't seen this already.Overall a great watch. I'm a massive fan of old school 80's movies as they speak to me of a simpler time. This film will make you laugh, make you cry (a lot) and keep you hooked from beginning to end.***I try to be as candid as possible in my reviews, which I'm sure you will gather.
