I use this notebook for time block planning my days, and weekly reviews, as per Cal Newport's system. It has lovely smooth paper. The squared paper allows easy creation of the day view, with tasks, idea, metrics on one side and the time block planning on the right. It lies flat when open. I use the A5 instead of the A4 since it enables me to carry from work to home more easily with Hybrid working (I used to use the A4 version of this which is great if not moving about). The covers aren't robust, but they have stayed in good condition for the duration of use, which is all they need to do. Just far less heavy than some of the thicker card ones.

Rhodia has the best paper, no bleed through when using a fountain pen.

I was slightly surprised at just how much bigger this notebook is than I was expecting. I'm not sure why, after all, the dimensions are given on Amazon's page, but it was still wider than I thought it would be. That extra width is due to the perforated pages, which means that the pages are A5-sized once torn out of the notebook (hence the A5+ designation.) Being able to do this is nice, but in future I think I’ll stick with a smaller book with non-perforated pages - that, I understand, is entirely subjective.I was also surprised at how think and silky the paper is, giving a great feel and uniform writing when using my more costly fountain pens; my Pelikan Souveran and Graf Intuition with their smoother, wetter nibs love it, for example. Not all my pens performed so well, however, and my cheaper, steel-nib LAMY skips really frequently (every other letter.) I have found that really wet inks (such as Waterman turquoise) in broad-nib pens will tend to go through the paper in places, but in my experience that’s to be expected.With the notebook you also get a plastic insert page holding a break-off ruler and bookmarks; nicely, the ruler can be clipped to the metal spiral once it’s been broken off the page, so you shouldn’t lost it quite as easily.All in all, a nice notebook with lovely, smooth paper that some pens love and others don’t.

If you're buying a Rhodia notepad you are no doubt already aware of the reputation and quality! The paper is so smooth and fantastic to write on, with a sort of satin finish. One thing I didn't realise was that the pad isn't hardback. The covers are light plastic. Not a problem, I just assumed from the photos, but just in case that's a deal-breaker for someone else!

Love rhodia, this book ideal for work or school for notes. Didn't realise at purchase but has a handy ruler and page markers included.
