Experience durability at its peak with the Smartwool Men’s PhD Outdoor Light Low Cut Socks. These socks are built for performance in the highest degree, making them ready for any adventure on your list. The Smartwool community is a collection of people who believe that time outside is valuable, restorative, and essential for everyone. When Smartwool started making socks back in 1994, their founders simply wanted to be able to ski longer without getting cold toes. That’s when they discovered the benefits of Merino wool as a performance fabric. It was soft (softer than any wool they had every felt), moisture-wicking, thermoregulating (warm when it’s cold, and cool when it’s warm), sustainable, and odor-neutralizing- helping to keep feet dry, comfortable, and warm for longer than the synthetic socks they were wearing at the time. It worked so well, in fact, that Smartwool uses it in almost every single item they make.Smartwool was the first outdoor company to make performance Merino wool ski socks- revolutionizing the category and forever changing the way outdoor enthusiasts viewed their feet.Smartwool’s whole brand was built on the desire to be comfortable on outdoor adventures-we wanted to go farther and experience more. And that drive continues to fuel everything Smartwool does. From their Merino wool supply chain to the Smartwool advocacy program to how they design their socks and apparel, Smartwool exists to help you play, love, and laugh in the great outdoors as often as you would like.

Good but not great
Bought these for running & cycling, decided to spend more than I intended on these as I figured they would last and would pay off over time but unfortunately that was not the case. Within 4 months of use (once a week on a run of between 5-10km) a large hole one sock developed quickly whilst out on a evening run (socks are right size & nails are trimmed) which was disappointing. The socks themselves are thick and feel comfortable to train in but I think these are too expensive for what they are from my experience; I wouldn't buy another pair.

Great socks for backpacking, hiking and biking
Very comfortable and resist smells excellently. I used these backpacking in the far east and they were a bit thicker than ideal, but didn't feel hot to wear - perhaps they are ideal for this. Fast drying, and have kept their shape and nice snug and supportive fit after much use. They don't let dirt fall into the cuff so are great when hiking or mountain biking. The thickness has the advantage that they feel like slipper socks, so I often wore them inside hostels and temples.I used these for about 5 days in a row and they didn't smell too bad. I took Superdrug hand wash liquid and this worked fine.

Pricey but definitely worth it
These are fantastic. They fit me very snug but i'm a UK size 15 so that was to be expected. They're ridiculously comfortable and keep your feet warm when needed and cool when it's hot. Very happy with these and will be wearing on flights to avoid getting uncomfortable! Would definitely recommend and will be buying many more pairs. They are expensive yes, but so far i would definitely say they're worth the money.

Like running on clouds
Best socks ever! These feel quite thick but they don’t make your feet hot and they are super comfy - like running in clouds (probably). This pair was for my husband, I bought some for him cause I have some and I love them 😀

Warm, not too stinky and comfortable
These socks are really comfortable and warm. In really hot weather they're too thick to entertain the use of but for most of the year they are great. Being wool they tend not to amass too much foot odour. Very happy with them.

Good quality, good fit (I'm a size 9 UK)
Good quality, good fit (I'm a size 9 UK), padding under the ball of the foot and heel. Can deal with a good few hours of cycling without getting damp or smelly. Worth paying that bit extra for.
