This is an excellent book that cites to primary sources of Islam and refutes the intolerant interpretations of Islam that are common among contemporary violent extremist terrorist movements. This book shows the true Islam that is rich and beautiful.This book should be in every library.

Shaykh-ul-Islam, Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, is an Islamic scholar and a political and a social worker from Pakistan. He is the founder and CEO of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) which is an NGO aimed at promoting religious moderation, quality education, and interfaith dialogue. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri is a cogent thinker and writer who has written many books on various topics of Islam. Recently he has written a very interesting book titled Fatwa on Suicide Bombings and Terrorism. This is supposed to be a very interesting and inspiring book. In this book, according to Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri himslef, he has left no stone un-turned in the theology of Islam in order to argue against suicide bombings and terrorism. This means that he has turned every page of Quran and Sunnah and claims to have argued against terrorism in light of that. This is quite interesting and remarkable. Presuming that the writing of this book is motivated by rationality and reason, it would be a great resource for understanding true Islam. The book is being reported to have been translated in other foreign languages too. Furthermore, I have heard that the book has been already translated to Danish language.I remember having met Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri when I was an undergraduate student. I suppose it was back in 1,999 or 2,000. Modern era of terrorism had not began yet and the world was a peaceful place in some sense. The reason for meeting him was quite interesting. Two of our very dear friends had become atheists. I would not disclose the names for the purpose of confidentiality. Another one my friends was very concerned about this. He was affiliated with MQI and proposed to us to take both of them for a dialogue with Dr. Qadri. After much efforts we reached MQI center in Lahore. We were a group of around more than 50 people as I remember. Dr. Qadri was somehow not expecting us. He nonetheless greeted us warmly and we had our meeting and dialogue with him. As the meeting progressed, incidentally the two of our dear friends chose to keep quite. This was rather strange because they used to be very vociferous about their atheistic ideas on the campus. After all the idea of taking them to Dr. Qadri ensued due to this. And they had agreed to having an open dialogue with Dr. Qadri prior to going there.Seeing their silence and the consequent gravity of the situation, I decided to ask all the atheistic questions that I thought could be the most compelling about the existence of God. I found it interesting because I had recently started to learn to speak in English those days. I used to form a sentence in my mind and then utter it. It used to be questions normally. I learnt to become a bit more spontaneous over the years due to my interaction with books, the Internet and people. Similarly, my knowledge about atheism was also very limited. I remember that the friend of mine who had reverted to atheism used to keep a thick book along side him. I remember that it posed questions about the existence of God. The idea that someone would read something about the existence of God used to appear very weird to me in those days. I think it would be just as if an atheist or a materialist would find it hard to grasp the idea that God somehow existed. But for me, just like many religious people, God simply existed. There was no question about that!So as the discussion proceeded, I asked many questions and they were answered and the congregation listened. Most of the questions revolved around the existence of God himself, creation of life and of universe. Dr. Qadri answered each one of them in the light of Quranic verses. There were other questions like if God created the universe and all the life the who created God. Such a question has a basis in philosophy and the cosmological argument addresses it. There were also other typical questions of the sort that why does an onion have so and so number of peels and why not any other number. For instance, a typical question could be that why is God not like this or why is He like that. Or, why cannot God be seen if He exists. Such questions were also answered. But a problem with such questions is that no matter how much one dwells in to their explanations, the answers can never quell the concerns. Latter in my life I took atheism seriously and read it. This gave me a clearer perspective on what atheism was all about.Meeting Dr. Qadri was otherwise a pleasant experience. He is a simple and a courteous man. I hope his new book on terrorism is read by every Muslim and non-Muslim.

Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri does not beat around the bush - he uses evidence from the two most directly authenticated sources - The Qur'an and the Sunnah. The beauty about such a book is that it is 512 pages and he does not ramble on about his own opinion. He sticks to the facts and lets you decide what you think Islam's stance on terrorism is. To sum up his book of 512 pages of evidence:"Terrorism is terrorism, violence is violence and it has no place in Islamic teaching and no justification can be provided for it, or any kind of excuses or ifs or buts." - Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

After reading this book, I understood the real teaching of Islam, which has nothing to do with extremism and terrorism. I walk on the street with my head up high as a Muslim now. This book equipped me with answers to many misconceptions on Islam. I am once again able to say 'I'm Muslim' without fear of being labeled as a terrorist. BEST BOOK TO HAVE IN YOUR COLLECTION!!!

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri ist einer der angesehensten Theologen des Islam. Dies ist nicht nur der Tatsache geschuldet, dass er bei den größten islamischen Gelehrten seiner Zeit studiert hat, sondern auch dem Fakt, dass er sich schon seit Jahrzehnten durch unzählige Bücher und Vorträge darum bemüht, Muslime über die wahre/friedliche Botschaft des Islam aufzuklären. Er ist Begründer der Wohlfahrtsorganisation "Minhaj-ul-Quran", die weltweit Zweige hat und inzwischen auch von den Vereinten Nationen den Status einer Beraterorganisation erhalten hat.Während Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri in seinem Heimatland Pakistan schon seit Jahrzehnten Millionen von Anhänger hat, hat er im Westen erst mit dieser Fatwa vor ca. zwei Jahren enorme Bekanntheit erlangt und wird auch hier nun sehr oft als Redner an Universitäten, bei Think-Tanks und auf Konferenzen eingeladen.Diese Fatwa (theologisches Rechtsgutachten) gegen Terrorismus und Selbstmordattentate ist die erste, die auf Grundlage von 1400-jähriger islamischer Theologie Terrorismus absolut und ohne Wenn und Aber ablehnt. Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri bedient sich dabei ausschließlich der klassischen Texte des Islam, d.h. des Korans sowie der von allen Muslimen als authentisch eingestuften Hadithen (Prophetenüberlieferungen), und legt überzeugend dar, dass Terrorismus mit der wahren Botschaft des Islam nichts zu tun hat. Ihre Stärke liegt darin begründet, dass sie aus der klassischen Lehre des Islam heraus belegt, dass Terrorismus unislamisch ist. Wie Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri selbst betont, handelt es sich bei der Fatwa nicht um "seine Meinung" oder "seine Interpretation" des Islam - er hat lediglich die Aussagen des Korans und die Prophetenüberlieferungen gesammelt und systematisch dargestellt ("Die Frage ist also nicht, ob man 'mir' zustimmt, sondern ob man den Lehren des Islams zustimmt.").Die Fatwa erklärt zunächst etymologisch, dass der Islam in allen seinen drei Stufen (Islam, Imaan, Ihsaan) "Frieden" bedeutet und was die Definition eines Muslims ist. Sodann stellt sie klar, dass Terrorismus gegen Muslime und dass Terrorismus gegen Nicht-Muslime gleichermaßen vom Islam für verboten erklärt worden ist.Des Weiteren befasst sich Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri (u.a.) mit den sog. "Kharajites", eine vom Propheten Mohammed vorhergesagte Gruppe von Extremisten/Terroristen, die schon zu Frühzeiten des Islam in der muslimischen Gemeinde in Erscheinung trat und sich auf den Islam berief. Der Autor stellt eindeutig klar, dass al-Qaeda und andere Terrororganisation die heutigen "Kharajites" sind und dass ihre terroristischen Handlungen sie nach islamischer Auffassung zu Ungläubigen machen. Denn: Nach der islamischen Lehre ist das Töten eines Menschen grds. verboten (außer als Todesstrafe für Mord oder Terrorismus, und auch nur nach einem Urteil auf Grundlage eines rechtsstaatlichen Prozesses). Daher gilt laut Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri folgender Grundsatz: Tötet ein Muslim einen anderen Menschen (z.B. aus Rachegelüsten) und weiß er, dass er damit gegen den Islam verstoßen hat, so ist seine Tat als eine verbotene Handlung/Sünde ("haram") zu bewerten. Tötet ein Muslim einen anderen Menschen und hält er seine Tat hingegen für rechtmäßig (wie dies al-Qaeda etc. tun), so ist diese Tat vielmehr als ein Akt des Unglaubens ("kufr") zu bewerten, weil dieser Muslim etwas für erlaubt erklärt, was nach islamischer Auffassung von Gott für verboten erklärt worden ist. Deshalb wird dieser Muslim zu einem Ungläubigen.Die Fatwa existiert jetzt schon seit etwa zwei Jahren. Niemand hat ihren Inhalt bisher auch nur im Ansatz anfechten können. Die Antwort von al-Qaeda sind nur Morddrohungen gegen den Autor gewesen.Der einzige Kritikpunkt an der Fatwa, der herangebracht werden kann, ist, dass der Autor nicht, wie in vielen seinen Vorträgen (vgl. den Vortrag von Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri an der Georgetown University auf Youtube; oder seine Rede auf der Peace for Humanity Conference 2011 auf Youtube), die Aspekte klargestellt hat, auf die sich Terrororganisation durch falsche Interpretationen berufen, nämlich z.B. Dschihad oder Sure 9:5. Der Aspekt des Dschihad ist zumindest in seinem vor Kurzem erschienenen Kompendium "Righteous Character & Social Interactions" erläutert.Insgesamt stellt diese Fatwa jedoch einen Meilenstein dar und widerlegt die Behauptungen all derer, die ihren Terrorismus durch den Islam zu rechtfertigen versuchen. A very good compilation and I recommend terrorism researchers to read it and consult it while writing research papers. Good.
