Decent knife
This is an interesting KKnife. The dents on the sides of the knife seem to be there to give the impression that they are hammer marks from the fitting process, however they don't look at all like tool marks, they looked look very contrived. The listing states that the knife is 1095 steel, but the blade is not marked. The knife doesn't seem to hold an edge as well as I'd expect from a 1095 blade.Out of the box, the blade wasn't sharp enough to cut paper cleanly. The knife was quick to sharpen, which again, gives me the impression that this is made of a softer steel than 1095.The sheath is another interesting item. The is a basketweave pattern stamped into the leather, however there are a few curious things. First, the impressions on the basketweave tool don't line up very well, which at first glance gives the impression that these impressions were indeed made by hand, But the tooling is not as deep as I'd expect in a hand made piece. The leather itself also doesn't have the hand feel of a good full grained vegetable tanned leather. These things together make me wonder if this is a bicast leather that has been embossed rather than full grain leather that has been tooled.I'm not a fan of the pancake sheath, as it positions the knife at an odd angle to be smoothly drawn. Because of the tooling being only on one side of the sheath and the angle of the belt loop holes, this can only be worn on the right side, and the sheath doesn't ride well to be drawn when worn as Intended.Still, for the price, this isn't a horrible knife, and overall it will be a nice addition to my collection. I would make a different sheath so the knife could be worn mid-back or cross draw if I were to carry it.

Very sharp and feels heavy
This knife is very sharp right out of the box! The leather pancake case is of high quality as well. I did put the leather case on my belt and walked around with the knife. It fit best on my left hip as I wanted the knife to angle backwards from me. I did find that you could have the knife fall out of the pancake case if you are jumping around in the woods and such, but it is not likely to happen, but it could. A better design would be to have a strap of some sort to lock the knife in. I plan on using this knife for gutting my deer, so I won't be carrying it on me, but in my pack and keeping it at the hunting shack.Overall, I am happy with the knife as it is, and I think the leather pouch is an added bonus for it, but I do not recommend wearing the knife while hiking / camping in the woods.

Poked through the sheath
Womp womp, as soon as I got this knife I was so excited by how beautiful the handle was, and the blade came super sharp. That’s pretty rare, only the real higher end knives will send you a blade this sharp, most of the time you have to sharpen it yourself. So then why womp womp? Well because, the knife was SO sharp when I put it back into its sheath, it cut through it and came out the end. Shown in photos. Now granted, part of this could have been my fault, why did I shove it so hard back in there? I guess I’m used to my other knives where it’ll stop the blade at some point, and some of my knives with a hard case/sheath, you HAVE to put a lot of pressure to get it to snap in.I’m just glad this didn’t happen to me while wearing/using it. That would be a bad thing to unknowingly have a knife poking out of its sheath and stab you in the leg.The knife itself seems really nice so I’m giving it an extra star, but I was originally going to give it one star because now it’s basically useless without the sheath. I wonder if there’s a sheath I could use instead? Not sure, but it is a pretty knife if that’s what you’re looking for, just not very practical from my experience.

Looks beautiful - but no markings..
Everything on this knife looks really nice. It has all the markings of a quality knife - hollow ground, sharp out of the box. The handle is beautiful. Not a fan of the pancake holster but it's still a nice thick leather and it is well made too. What bothers me is that the blade has no markings at all. No manufacturer identification, no markings of what kind of steel it is, nothing. To me, this raises a flag because if you are a manufacturer of quality knives, you are putting your brand on that blade. But I'm going to give it 5 stars regardless because it is at a decent price point and it looks well made. I do not know how well it will hold the edge or how well it will hold up to abuse. If I find issues I will come back and make note of them here as well. Otherwise, again, beautiful out of the box.

Surprisingly Good Quality
After purchasing a dozen or so knives blindly through Amazon over the years, I’ve learned that you can never be quite sure what you’re in for until you have it in your hand. Some have been excellent, others are fine, and a few are really, really bad. This Susa sheath knife is fine. In fact, it’s on the higher end of “fine.” The handle, though just a bit short for my big hands, is comfortable to grip, and the finger notches are perfectly spaced. Aesthetically speaking, it’s a slick design, and I’m enjoying the color even more than I expected. It’s a pretty piece of steel. I love the blackening on the fat part of the blade, and in case anyone’s wondering, it’s full tang too.On the downside, the blade on mine was quite dull right out of the packaging (shoutout for quality packaging as well, though; you’ll need another knife to free the knife). Just as I wish the handle was a half inch longer, so do I wish the blade was a half inch longer. It feels just a tad small to me, but I say that as a big guy. I hate to say it, but like a lot of other reviewers, I’m not a huge fan of the sheath. It works okay if you wind it onto your belt, but I rarely ever desire to wear my knife like that, so I’m left trying to stuff it into too-small pouches on my backpack. All in all, this is a solid, comfortable, high quality 4-star knife. You can do a heck of a lot worse with sheath knives on Amazon.
