A new MTB specific set of mudguards offering superior protection. The front Shock blade offers greater coverage than a downtube mounted mudguard, and is compatible with suspension forks. It integrates an efficient quick-release system for easy fitting and removal. The Shock blade is complimented by the highly adjustable rear X-Blade, utilizing a dual pivot design to customize the fit, a super-strong quick-release fitting for ease of fitting removal, and a dual compound construction with a softer material at the trailing edge for greater flexibility.

Mudguards that work on mountain bikes
These fit securely and are wider than my tyres so they should block a lot of the splash. These are "Shockblades" and not "Bluemels" as the listing suggests at this time. In fact, if you look at the picture closely then it even says "Shockblades" on them. The front guard was a bit wierd to fit (unintuitive) but there are plenty of video guides on YouTube. If I remember then I'll update this review once I've been through a few puddles....whenever the rain starts again.-EDIT- Well my ankles got wet from the splash but the mudguards protected my back fine, which is exactly what I wanted them for!

Great MTB and general purpose mudguards for a bigger bike
Can't go wrong with SKS mudguards, I guess. I've had the 26" version for 15 years and they have been great, holding up excellently through some 10k km. I started using them on a new 29" bike with wide tyres and realized I need bigged mudguards. So I got the same combo and it's basically the same thing, but larger and with some improvements (no annoying screws for the rear guard's strap). These are MTB mudguards, which means they are not wrapping tightly around the wheel and they can move freely. But that's exactly what one would want to avoid some branch or pine cone getting jammed between the wheel and the mudguard. I don't bike much in mud and rain, but they have done a great job with that too. These are basically protectors against flying junk more than wet weather.Installation is easy. Although I had to use the largest front insert size and that one was still almost too small -- I "screwed" it in really "far" making the plastic pieces collapse together. I'm not sure how reliable this is given the tiny differences between the smaller inserts. We'll see. This may be just because my bike's frame is massive. My only small complaint is that I wish the rear blade's "stem" (the movable pieces between the strap and the blade itself) was shorter. It's great that it can be moved through such huge amplitudes. But even placing it as high as possible on the seat tube, it still extends really far back. It may be hard to fit any lights or reflectors or bags with it there. I have a suspension seat post that is lifted fairly high and I could barely fit it unless I move it so far back it wouldn't protect the bottom of the saddle.
