very big, grandsons loves it
it took awhile to put together around the loops, the son-in-law messed with it for awhile and we had to go help put it together lol. The cable for controls could be a little longer. but the track is very sturdy. good quality. The grandsons are 6 yrs old and 7 yrs old. so their still learning how to speed up and slow down without flying off track. I think once they get the hang of the speed their going to spend hours on it. Perfect Gift!

So Much Fun, exactly what I was looking for to bond with my son
So I bought this "gift" for my son, who is 8, to have something that we could both play together. I was getting tired of the constant battle over screen time and I wanted to share a piece of my childhood with him. I was curious to see how he would take to it, but was very pleasantly surprised by both my sons interest and my inner child coming back out. Below are somethings that I liked:1) Putting it together- My son and I worked on this together. The reviews about the instructions are somewhat accurate, but if you have ever put anything together you can handle this intuitively. Not to mention it was fun seeing my son figure it out. It made him more in gauged and have to work for something vice have it handed to him.2) Loved the Porsche cars. I admit that I am a homer and love Porsche, but my son recognized the vehicles too which was cool.3) Speed and course- There was a lot of reviews complaining about controlling the vehicles to make the loops and turns. Mastering those techniques is what makes the slot car fun. Who likes to just push a button and watch a car go round and round. I was able to figure this out only after a few minutes and my 8 year old got it before me...(I hate to admit)Things that were different:1) The Controls - These were no the "traditional" controls I was used to playing with in the 80s but after a while they started to grow on me. I actually like them better I thinkWe are 3 days into this and my son asks when I get home from work if we can race! I put that in the 5 star category for sure.I will try and update as time goes on, as I saw there were some issues with the vehicles. So far we are good, I do wipe down the connections before we play though. Also, I bought mine from amazon for piece of mind and again we have had no issues to date.Hope this helps and enjoy the "race" down memory lane!

Fun tracks, fast cars mid-to-low build quality, moderate value
This set lets you build a few tracks, which are all pretty fun. The cars are fast enough; they'll always fly off the track if try to hold the trigger all the way down, all the way around but they also won't just fly off for no reason. The reason this didn't get a higher review is that it seems like the track and cars aren't very durable. The track has a few sections that won't connect well so one of both of the cars won't move until the connection is remade. Sometimes it's easy to just wiggle the bad piece around until it's connected again but sometimes it just won't work for one of the cars. This started on about day 2 and the track hasn't been walked on, dropped, etc. Also, the pad on the car that makes the connection to the track needs to be adjusted but this is trivial and is probably just the way of a slot car.One of the cars makes a bit more noise than the other. The noise isn't offensive but it alerted me to the plastic gears, in the car. At some point, the gears might have taken some abuse and slipped. Now the tolerance is more sloppy between the teeth on that drive gear. I have a feeling that wouldn't have happened with a metal drive gear. The stickers on the track remind me of when I had one as a kid. They make the track look nicer, the kids like to sticker stuff up and they will probably stay well stuck for the life of the track, for the most part. This set has cool tracks and the cars and their speed makes it fun to play with, with my 6 year old daughter, here 5-14 year old friends and my wife, but I would have spent more had they used a bit higher build quality.

This is a pretty good bargain!
Ok. Its review time! I have read all the reviews on this product and here's my take on it.1. The product is actually well built, i find the materials for the track are actually handling the assembly and disassembly as i have done a few iterations of the track, not exactly what the instructions or the box show. I did a small square track just to test it, test the controllers, then i did the one in the pics, and now the 3rd iteration has the 2 loops. And so far, the pieces take the finessing they require to put interlocking and separating them.2. The cars are actually doing fine on the track, you HAVE to practice with it as you simply cannot go full throttle on them or they fly off the track, THAT IS THE CATCH! It takes specific speed to maneuver the curves, and then you can go faster on the straights. But, that brings me to my 3rd point. The wings on the cars a bit frail, they're actually made of rubber not hard plastic so one broke already after quite a few spills and the other one is loose, because mid youngest likes to play with the cars off the track as if they were Hotwheels.3. The controllers are probably the lowest quality part of the whole set, and as such each controller has its own little quirks, one has decent sensitivity as you progress on the speed, the other kinda does a few quirky slow downs and as such its a bit more touchy, but still can be controlled properly.4. And finally the Loops, they require literally full speed to go through them, and you have to release if you have a curve right after, so that will take some serious practice, i can maneuver the course for a lap, get to the loop, pass it, but i cant quite release in time for the next curve the way i set up the track currently.5. I did not do any elevations like the track shows on the box, it seems they might be stable enough, and you do have enough parts to build quite a few variations of the course, so play with it and just be creative and you'll have plenty of hours of fun. My 8y/o and 3y/o (the youngest enjoys it the most), have plenty of fun playing with them. Even me. Reminds me of the ones i have as a kid.I dont give this 5 stars as there are a few things, but, overall the product was well worth the purchase. There are bad reviews on it, but i assume its from people who didnt put enough effort behind proper use of it. But it works, and works well. My kids and i are certainly enjoying it!
