Excellent little book getting me on the road to pension self-management
It's been a couple of years since I bought this book, the first of about 7 books on pensions and more specifically investing. Since buying and consuming the author's sage advice and knowledge I have consolidated four pensions into a self-invested personal pension (SIPP) and now manage my investments within the SIPP wrapper. Prior to doing this I had very little visibility of exactly what my money was invested in and was paying anything north of 1% commission, which compounds into a significant amount of money, drip-feeding out of my fairly small investments, over the last several decades. This is a good starting book, hand-holding me as I wobble around a bit before progressing into more meaty tomes. Recommended and thanks for reading this far.

Good overview of SIPP's for retirement planning
I bought this short book to revise the notes I have been making from places like Which? Money, about whether or not a SIPP is right for my circumstances and how to use a SIPP. I now feel confident to transfer my pension to a SIPP provider, leaving my defined benefits pot where it is. Of course you have to remember that any investments linked to stock markets can go down as well as up and if you take out too much as draw down, your pot could expire before you do.

An Excellent Book on Pensions
This is an excellent book on the current scene of pensions. It is free of the usual financial jargon and sets out all the types of pensions available and how to go about finding what is best for you but highlights Personal Pensions and and SIPPs (Self Invested Personal Pensions) and explains how easy and straightforward they are to open and manage and how they will give freedom and flexibility in your personal pension arrangement. Really very good book.

Worth the read
Good book to orientate you to the world of UK pensions. Interestingly enough it's made me go and talk to a proper advisor and at least I feel I know much more about what they are taking about.

excellent guide for a beginner such as me
I have been reading around the subject trying to decide whether to open a SIPP, this book put everything in context and provided simple answers all in one place place examples of the author and what he has done. Having read this it is clear I should open a SIPP and I have an idea of what to research more re investment types and allocation during what is hopefully, a growth phase for me. For an investment of under £3 I learnt a huge amount and it clarified my thoughts.

Informative
It's an informative little book. The only thing I didn't like is that I felt the author was trying to publicize some SIPP providers.

Does what the book title says
This a short book that provides sensible practical advice for 99% of people looking to put something away for the future. There is very little jargon and unnecessary complexity. Some solid advice about staying away from expensive products that don't really have value. It should also enable most people to avoid paying for expensive advice that does not add value. Recommended.

Very thin and basic
This book is more like a collection of some basic facts about pensions and looks more like something a student could put together with a bit of research.
