Cheap, protective, but not especially durable.
This review is for the set of 5x solid plastic protective boxes/cases for 3.5" hard drives (assorted colours). These protective cases provide good cover across all surfaces (if you can disregard the tiny gap that remains where the lid meets the main body of the case. There is minimal padding within the case, but it's entirely adequate to stop the drive from moving about substantially when closed. At around £12.50 for the set of 5 at the time of purchase, these are very competitively priced against other protective solutions for hard drives. There are two design flaws that stand out to me, however. The first is that these cases cannot be securely stacked on top of one another without some risk of cases sliding off. Depending on your arrangement this might not be a consideration, but a slight adjustment to the outer design of these cases so that there was some small amount of interlocking when placed together would have improved them. The second issue is that the lids are secured on one side by a fragile clip - two of which (from a purchase of 10 cases total) were damaged on arrival. You can tell immediately that these clips will not have an especially long life-span, and when they break there will be nothing to hold the case closed, rendering them useless. A much improved design of the securing of the lid to the main case would improve the value of these cases substantially - especially if they could click/pop together without the need for any fragile clips whatsoever.Overall, the cases are cheap and effective, but expect to need to replace them before too long (assuming that they arrived intact in the first place).

Good protection if used sensibly
This is a rigid plastic box, but it features internal ridges which should provide some shock protection in normal use. The plastic is not rigid enough to stop you from pressing and touching the top of the drive, so I'd advise against storing this under anything heavy and with a narrow base, but in practice hard discs are usually quite durable even if squeezed there when not in use.My order came with a dense foam insert glued to the lid (you can see it in the photo) to keep the contacts clean, and a non-sticky card printed with lines on one side allowing you to list the contents. The box features one smooth side and one frosted, but in practice you tend to be able to read the label even if it's been put inside the frosted side.

Perfect
This the perfect storage solution for 3.5 Inch HDDs. I removed a hard drive from my old desktop PC when it died and now use it for extra storage. Fits perfectly in the case that comes with flip-top lid and index card. I bought two and use the other one for storing my old SSD cards removed from laptops. Incredible value for money and 100% fit-for-purpose. Other brands cost a lot more but these are more than adequately sturdy and durable. Can't go wrong.

My review
A useful and very simple box for hard drives (they don't have a perfect seal at the lid, but they are robust and a good storage unit). There's a little foam block in the lid which presses gently on the drive to hold it in place. My only 2 gripes are;1. Don't pay over the odds for these boxes (I've seen some on the market for £5.00 or more).2. Anyone with arthritis may have problems opening the box using just their fingertips (though a butter knife will do the trick)..

Cheap, does the job
You will need an Anti-Static Storage box like this (unless if you do not want to fit a 3.5 inch drive into a permanent home). These Anti-Static Storage boxes are cheap and seem to do the job. I imagine the hinge would break if you swung it open and shut every day. However, if you just want to keep you drive in it for occasional access to archive materials, it seems to be an item that will do the job.

Good
These cases do the job. They would be better if the internal support meant the HD couldn't move (at present there's a strip of foam in the lid and it's helpful but still allows a bit of movements). If the boxed stacked it would be good - lugs or cut outs that met so they didn't slide around if stacked vertically - I have 7 of them. Also why the price hike? I bought at £1.49 inc P&P went to buy more and they are now £2.49! I went elsewhere.

Some damaged but otherwise OK
I ordered 6, 3 arrived damaged with cracked cases. The plastic they where wrapped in was not damaged. Posted in a plastic bag, no box. Seller responded to the incident quickly and offered partial refund for the damaged items.I ordered the green case from BuyinCoins, the plastic is textured helping grip when holding. The 3.5'' HD fits better one way in than the other. Small piece of foam glued to the inside of the lid helps keep it snug. No movement of HDD when inside the case. Mine came with a card to write on but it's not really visible through the plastic. Lid is secure enough for my needs but I doubt it will stop liquids (the case is not claimed to be waterproof).

Well made and decent clip/catch. I'm happy with them.
The cases I received were actually really nicely made and the catches are of decent enough quality that you can be sure they'll last a good few openings/closings. They fit my 3.5 inch drives perfectly and the foam inserts are well stuck and provide anti-rattle and some shock absorbtion. There is enough room to slip a bit of paper or card down the side to aid in labelling drives or if you want to write on the case itself with a permanent marker or something like I do it does clean up nicely if you need to alter what you've written.I've got no idea about the anti-static properties but I've been happily using these for a few weeks and everything has worked perfectly with no damage.
