Degen DE13 Solar Powered World Radio Receiver With Crank Dynamo Emergency

I only opened and checked out the basics as was sending off to Nepal. Simple instructions, light and compact, sound was really clear and good volume. Lost one star as volume button a bit fiddly and crank handle not very sturdy but obviously haven't used it to find out how sturdy it is.

My experience with this radio has been for the most part ok.I live in an area with poor radio signals and I can say it has good signal on am/fm and good sound quality.The in built battery holds a good charge (I HAVE TO SAY THAT I HAVE SEEN SOME NEGATIVE REVIEWS REGARDING THE IN BULIT BATTERY IN MY PERSON EXPERIENCE THERE IS A SECOUND BATTER COMPARTMENT AND YOU NEED TO CONECT THE RECHARGEABLE BATTERY HAS IT IS SHIPED DISCONECTED)The quality of the radio is ok remeber you get what you pay for SW band are plus and the torch is ok and the in built phone charger is useful .In conclusion this radio is one of the better wind up radio out there.

Good little radio. Would be 5 stars except instructions appear in chinese(?). Had to go online to get english version, which told me the rechargeable battery inside is not connected from factory. You have to connect it yourself to charge with wind up handle. Otherwise neat.

Arrived on time and packaged well. This is a really nice little radio which I keep on my windowsill and it charges in the sun.I Like that it can be charged by cranking also. More choices of bandwidth unlike others which was the main reason for buying this. Would be good for camping.

Arrived in 2 days and the wife loves it! She pinched it before I got it opened and wants it for her new allotment. We love the multiple means of charging and powering, the many wavebands, and the torch. Haven't tried charging a mobile from it yet. The tuning and volume controls are very sensitive - just like the radios I used to build when I was younger, long before digital. People used to clean, well defined channels may struggle with this radio as channels are very close and can overlap. That's due to its small size - fits in a pocket. I got it for survival when the 'balloon goes up', there is no electricity and we need to find out what in the world is happening - not for hifi entertainment.

This is a fairly cheap radio - solar charging is all but ineffective, wind up does not work after a couple of attempts and radio reception isn't much to shout about. All in all, quite disappointing.

Absolute rubbish. It falls to pieces and won't even pick up local BBC radio without huge interference.

I was wanting a radio that was self-powered so I could use in cases of power cuts and whilst off grid. After searching several options I settled for this item, mainly due to the fact it was 4 band not just FM. I could have purchased it elsewhere but then I would have had to wait for 4+ weeks, so taking into consideration the Amazon prime membership benefits I opted to purchase and it was delivered the next day. Once I opened the package I was surprised at how small it actually is. It feels well made and once I had connected the rechargeable battery that was supplied and tuned it into my favourite FM station ( just to check & compare) I thought that the mono sound quality was good. I turned up the volume and no distortion was heard, it was quite loud! After a fiddle with the controls and reading the English instructions that were enclosed I discovered the alarm function. This packs a punch with its sudden wailing and made me jump somewhat. The 3 LED light is bright too, but more of a lamp than a torch. I left it in a sunny place to charge up and tried the winder, which did not give the awful whining noise that some have, just a reassuring motor groan. Overall I am happy with this radio and the service provided. Thank you.
