fantastic buy :)
i brought this for my four going on five year old boy...now hes super dooper cool and wanted a certain branded games console instead however we wanted a more educational console as he is in his 1st year of school.now at first I was thinking...its cool but its learning...is he going to like this?but i can honestly say the way leap frog have entwined learning and games is fantastic!!football and maths?!trains and logic?!cooking, boys and counting?!it is brilliant!we found the shape of the Leapster GS was good too as it feels and looks more like a games console than a learning tool.we have only just started to open the world of the Leapster GS and have easily downloaded a few of the apps which he can now save his pocket money up for as they range in prices, its another option to than buying console games.we are looking forward to doing new activities!my son loves the in built camera and i have to say getting everything set up and ready for him (even loading on his own picture) before unwrapping it by using the leapfrog disc was a total bonus!!i have brought a power lead but so far havent needed it,we have used two sets of batteries since xmas though so maybe the lead for us is a good idea :)

Great learn & play handheld!
My little bot loves his 'GS' and plays on it at least once a day! I found it well made and durable with easy to master controls, good sound and picture quality. The only things that let it down are the American-English voice-over as it would be good if you could choose a language for your child to learn (in my case British-English); the in-built advertising which is clever but annoying; and lastly the poor battery life. However, I would highly recommend this to parents of pre-school or infant children who do not want to purchase a standard games console. I would also recommend the battery pack & charger.

picture quality is horrible. Bought it for my son as one of ...
It just doesn't make sense is all I can say. I mean, you have to keep buying batteries, picture quality is horrible. Bought it for my son as one of his Christmas gifts but it's not his cup of tea. It's just lying there, he doesn't use it. Total waste of money. ....

battery life
i bought this toy for my 5 year old and he loves it says its the best present he ever got. there is a major downside to this product though ids that the battery doesnt last long. its very hard to take the back off to access the batteries to begin with and when u put them in they seem like they dont fit properly so its hard to tell if its the console draining the life out of it or the batteries poping out making u think they have died. i know u can by the battery recharge set but that is very expensive. makes for a very unhappy boy as he doesnt get to play on it for longer than 10 mins without it turning off.

wow
I was really surprised by this product it allows children to learn in a fun way, i think it is versatile and my son loves it. It keeps him entertained for long periods of time which is fantastic as it is really hard to keep his attention he likes the games and the fact he can take photos of us all and videos. I like the fact it also allows a child to be creative. It certainly ticks all the boxes as an entertainment center for children

lovely though rechargeable battery wld hv been nice!
got this at a bargain price and my 4yrs old son loves it. the games are relatively cheap compared to other vtech and kids products. the downside is that it eats batteries! oh myyyyyyyy u need to buy at least 8 rechargeable batteries so that when ur kid is using 4 on the leapster, u'd hv d remaining 4 on charge ! cos i can tell u now that d batteries dont last up to 4hrs and they're dead! the leapstaer keeps kids entertained wit videos, games, coloring and writing as well as educative .

great my nephew loves it
this is a great way to start a child's journey into the world of computers and touch screens. It has just the right level of complexity for my nephew to both enjoy and sometimes be puzzled by the device, which gets his brain going and makes sure that he's kept intellectually stimulated.I'll be looking to move him off this onto something like a 3DS after a couple of years but this is fantastic and recommend it to anybody else!
