Make Your Own Skin Care Products: How to Create a Range of Nourishing and Hydrating Skin Care Products

This book is just brilliant. The author is generous with her knowledge and there is lots of information to learn from. Some ingredients, although not hard to find, can be costly, so it would have been better to have some more basic recipes you could try without having to buy so many things. However, once you are hooked, looking for reasonably priced ingredients becomes a welcomed challenge. It would have been good to have had a soap recipe or two, but overall the recipes are easy to follow, thanks to the authors style of writing and the results are amazing! I will be reading this book over and over again. The only downside to this book is the authors confidence placed on the cosmetic industry, she states that all skincare products, natural or otherwise, and synthetic ingredients go through rigorous testing to ensure they are skin safe and have no adverse side effects, etc.. This is slightly worrying to hear; I bought this book knowing the dangers in synthetic products and also knowing that the cosmetic industry is self regulated (which means, to me, that they are no really regulated) This makes some ingredients far from safe and do cause adverse side effects and should be avoided as much as possible..which is again why you would want to buy books such as this one. Besides that, This book was worth the buy!

This is a great book - lots of good, concise information and lots of very good recipes. All the recipes I have used have been very successful. The information about the ingredients and the types of product is very good indeed, detailed enough and technical enough without being incomprehensible to the enthusiastic amateur. Of course you can always follow the recipes without reading any of the background information if you want to - the work has been done for you by the author.I would, however, have removed the final quarter of a star because the index is practically useless. Basic, to say the least. If you want to find information about most of the ingredients you will have to go through the book yourself. Jojoba oil? No. Evening Primrose oil? No. Avocado oil? No. The information is all there, in the book, and it is good and useful. You won't get to it through the index though.

It arrived promptly and was as expected.I'm completely new to making my own skin care products so wanted to buy a basic book which would introduce me to it all in an easy way and I found this book so helpful! It is very easy and simple to understand and along with information on what you need to think about when making products, it also gives you some handy recipes which I think would be a good place to start when creating your own blends.All in all, would recommend to novices like me! Haven't attempted to make anything as of yet though.

I think the book is great.Loads of useful information without endless boring scientific blah blah..You get to understand basics and then can create some quite fabulous products.Recipes are really easy to follow and you can buy ingredients without much trouble and they are not expensive like in most of the books I have read.I totally love Sally Hornsay book and she is my inspiration when creating my own skin care products.Quite often I do check her website for some tips and her videos where she shows how to make those amazing things.Really worth every penny and must have for beginners and for those with more knowledge about natural products.

Great book to introduce you to the world of natural skincare. Well presented, some of the information is common sense but you can tell the author goes out of her way to share her experiences and knowledge. Some great recipes too and good section on storage of creams and equipment to make creams. I recommend this book for those wanting to know more about making your own natural skincare as you will pick up some valuable tips.Quantities are a bit of for some recipes but once you start practicing, you'll make your own changes anyway so treat it as a guide.

I bought a couple of books on this subject and nearly didn't buy this because the cover didn't draw me in (as they say never judge a book buy its cover!), so glad I bought it as it's the best one, I've made nothing from the other books I bought, I always go straight to this one. It's very professional and not full of food ingredients for face asks etc which I didn't want. The ingredients are all natural: essential oils, base oils, butters, waxes, clays, floral waters etc. good instructions with a lot of recipes and information. You won't need any other book.

I read this book in just over and hour. Its an easy read but full of useful information regarding making your own products. Clear with a good layout, I would recommend it. It was delivered on time too.

Has many great recpies! Everythinhs in grams but theres a conversion chart to use measuring spoons. Really great book i love it a lot!
