A Smart Girl's Guide to Understanding Her Family (American Girl)

I buy these books for my niece who is an avid reader and loves AG.The writers do a wonderful job of articulating and explaining in a way to reach young readers, also, touching on issues parents may not know how to discuss or issues they may not even think of.I read some of this book and it is so great how they give different examples of "what a family is" ie: Dad, Mom, kids -or- single parent, kids -or- grandparents, kids etc.This book gives insight on how to handle relational issues within a family. It speakes to the reader on "their part" and how to handle themselves.I cannot say enough good things about these books

Bought this book for my daughter, at the recommendation of our pediatrician. I was worried that my daughter would not be interested in it, but as soon as it came in, she looked at it, took it in her room, and is now in there reading it. Looking forward to whatever she might want to talk about after she reads it. Definitely going to look into the rest of the series.

My daughter (age 9) was recommended these books after taking an Etiquette class. We ordered just about all the SMART GIRLS Books. They are SO GREAT! My daughter can't get enough of them. They are so very helpful with advice for the every day experiences that a girl has to deal with. The advice is Fantastice and worded exactly how a young girl needs it to be! I have a group of girls that I watch for the summer, and we are all going to read the books together as a group. I HIGHLY recommend these books. From divorce, to grooming, to friendship troubles, family relationships. All these books are great!

My daughter loves this series. She has been having a difficult time as both her brothers are younger and she is a pre-teen. That itself is a recipe for disaster. This book explains different scenarios and allows her to put situations into perspective. She has learned to stop, show down, and think about how to better handle things

my daughter is 11 years old and there's a lot of situations they go through in the book that are helpful. Also, it's good for her to learn about situations her friends might be going through even if she's not.I'd recommend this book for any girl from 10-18 years old

Learning how to redirect your emotions can be a real challenge to any young person. This book is helping my 12 y/o grand daughter just that. Her family is going through a situation that is putting pressure on them. This book highlights areas a young person can work on to help ease the family tension.

Doctor suggested these books for my daughter and she loves them. She goes back and rereads them if she thinks of a question.

I've bought a few of these 'Smart Girl' books for my middle daughter aged 9. My eldest (11years) has read them too but agreed that whilst useful they are a bit young for her. Although these books are American don't let that put you off; they are not saccharine but gently straight talking with solid advice to help young girls think about and deal with everyday concerns. They are great for a girl to read alone, do the quizzes or to share together and open up discussion. This particular book focuses on getting along with your family, including sibling rivalry and squabbles etc.

Great tips and my 10 year old daughter enjoyed it and it helped her discuss things that concern her more rather than go in a huff or argue. So would recommend this book.
