An item purchased as a gift.I will not dwell on the subject. on which thousands of other comments exist.Nevertheless, I thank the publisher and Amazon for providing the cardboard cover for this blu-ray pre-order.The representation on the page is therefore respected. And it's more beautiful to offer like that. :-)

My 9 and 10 year old grandchildren absolutely loved this and I promised they can watch every transformer films available, only downside is I have to rent or buy the movies so it's going to cost me a fortune.

First up thanks to Mr P whose review influenced my ordering this disc. I'll deal with the film then the technical geek stuff. I thought the film was huge fun, very entertaining although often very silly (but I think self-consciously and tongue-in-cheek a la "Iron Man"). The performances are all pretty good at the appropriate level, and I really liked Shia Labouef who I had otherwise only seen as a slightly annoying Indy Jr in "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull". He is funny and engaging, although I have no idea what this "channeling a young John Cusack" in the Amazon own review is supposed to be !?# This is not a P.T.Anderson or Lars von Trier film and no-one expects it to be, I hope. Just shift the brain a few gears down, or even into neutral, and fun is all but guaranteed.On the technical side: wow! Absolute reference sound and vision. It is Dolby TrueHD and not DTS, in response to a query on the comments page, and I am not quite sure what Mr P meant about LPCM, this is in my view in no way superior to TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio and nothing to mourn for (the best PCM soundtrack I know is "Casino Royale", but the two Nolan Batman films have TrueHD soundtracks which are at the very least just as good). All images are super sharp and in best resolution, the CGI images always shine but the normal film scenes are also brilliant. This is absolutely on a level with "Casino Royale" or "Indy 4". The sound is not only crystal clear, detailed and full, but the management of surround effects is really well achieved. You really will be turning your head back to the surround speakers in near alarm at moments like the little robot sneaking around on Air Force One. And anyone here like bass? This film turns your subwoofer into a nuclear weapon.This film does not take itself at all seriously and it is not for people who take themselves seriously. But it is for people who take their home cinema technology seriously and want to see it shining at supernova levels. Buy it now!

Transformers disguises its robotic flaws with stupendous amounts of adrenaline. Give Michael Bay a budget and he’ll spend it. Wisely or not is up for debate. But damn, the man-child that he truly is certainly is presented through his mind-numbing work. Enough pyrotechnics to annihilate an entire nation and an adequate amount of Megan Fox showcasing to transition into the adult entertainment business. So, Transformers. A franchise decimated by needless, unimaginative sequels that tarnished the reputation of the primary instalment. Also known as, the only decent entry Bay ever conceived. A group of Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, sent to Earth to prevent the Decepticons from reviving the antagonistic Megatron and retrieving an extraterrestrial cube.This blockbuster opposes everything I stand for as an amateur critic, film buff and general human being. Its bombastic nihilism, riddled with blatant exposition, surmounts to an unquantifiable splurge of stuff happening onscreen. Seriously. It’s the equivalent of being lobotomised and watching a sunset from a stained glass window. The colours, brightness and artificial heat would melt your retinas. That’s Transformers.But what people seemingly forget, especially those elitists too afraid to breach admittance, is that Bay’s first foray into the franchise is actually tolerable. Good, even. And by that, I don’t mean it’s the epitome of blockbusting entertainment. Far from it. Yet Bay, a director incredibly easy to pick on due to his accessibly basic yet overly explosive features, implants genuine directorial talent that prove his integrity. Yes, about an hour of the film’s runtime is explosive, with buildings toppling and metallic vehicular warfare ensuing.However, what makes Transformers utterly re-watchable is the constant flow of its narrative. It never stagnates. For over two hours, Bay continually pushes the story forward. Whether it be sweaty soldiers exhuming mountains of testosterone, sweaty LaBeouf clamming up or sweaty Fox suggestively leaning over the hood of a car (realising Bay’s wet dream...), it doesn’t matter. The point is, there’s never a dull moment through the frantic action. A commendable quality that provides motion to the narrative’s mechanisms. Bay knows how to exploit a budget. You go big, or you go home. He clearly understood that literally.Another reason as to why the first chapter is one of his best films, is the simplistic story. The actual plot is thin, with a couple of robots stopping some other robots from destroying everything. Basic foundations without convoluted lore that is constructed as if the writers are formulating random ideas as they’re writing the script (*cough* Revenge of the Fallen...). Yet what furthers the script’s memorability is the humorous characterisation. The Witwicky clan in particular. LaBeouf delivered a frenetic performance that solidified his leading qualities (which may have backfired on him!). His adolescent antics and heroic endeavours forced him to be both relatable and likeable. Fox, despite being presented on a suspiciously stained silver platter, held her own as well without resorting to the typical “damsel in distress” scenario. Supporting cast were buoyant also. The governmental world ending plot merged well with the teen angst situation, even if it was a colossal convenience. And a plethora of memorable quotes that I unknowingly recite on a daily basis. “Shut up Grandma! Drink your prune juice!”. Classic.It teeters on mediocrity at the best of times, however Bay’s focus on the human elements for the vast majority of the first hour ensured that it was more than just mechanical beings punching each other to fluctuating bass drops. There is substance before the clunky visual and auditory extravaganza. Did I grow up with the original source material? Of course not. Regardless though, I think we all need reminding just how solid this blockbuster really is. “Autobots! Roll out!”.

When this first came out, quite frankly I wondered what all the fuss was about. Then came the DVD version and again, despite the hype, I resisted the temptation to buy it. But when we went Blu-ray I finally relented, purchased it and watched the mayhem unfold onscreen. WOW, what a spectacle. Sensational special effects dominate many parts of the film and yet they are not irritating and overblown in the way so many other block busters look.Director Michael Bay is simply a genius when it comes to this type of film. As Steven Spielberg says in the extras: Michael Bay was indeed born to make Transformers.Shia LaBeouf plays the central role very well and his parents are, umm, well, you will know what I mean when you watch it. Everyone says Megan Fox provides the film's eye candy and yet she doesn't just stand there looking pretty, she gets stuck into things. John Turturro provides a lot of light relief and stops everyone from taking things too seriously. But the real stars of this film are the Transformers themselves and the battles they have throughout the film fills the screen with awesome action.Personally I have watched this a number of times and I will probably watch it many times yet. It's brilliant fun.

Transformers war wohl die größte Überraschung des Jahres... zumindest für viele Kinogänger. Mich mit eingeschlossen.Ich selbst bin mit den Spielzeugen (kaum mit der Serie) groß geworden und war richtig gespannt in wie weit es Bay (der Regisseur) es geschafft hat diesem geilen "Männerspielzeug" gerecht zu werden.Fazit: Der beste Actionfilm des Jahres.Transformers ist, neben der sensationellen Action, auch noch tief. Jeder der denkt, dass Transformers weder Inhalt noch eine Message besitzen würde, hat den Film nicht gesehen oder ist geistig an einem Tiefpunkt angelangt. Dazu aber gleich mehr.Der Inhalt sollte klar sein. Zwei "Roboter-Parteien" suchen nach den All-Spark (so der englische Begriff - habe den Film nur in Rumänien im Kino gesehen = O-ton und Subtitles) der auf der Erde, inklusive Megatron (der Anführer der Decepticons) gelandet ist.Da ein Forscher (Whitwicky) vor hunderten von Jahren Megatron entdeckt hat und zufällig auch die Koordinaten des All-Sparks entdeckt hat sind jetzt beide Parteien (Autobots und Decepticons) hinter den Koordinaten und somit auch hinter Sam Whitwicky her, der die Koordinaten unwissentlich besitzt.Die Story selbst ist nicht soo einfallsreich aber man sollte auch bedenken, dass hier eine Zeichentrickserie verfilmt wird. Somit hat der Film doch mehr Tiefgang als angenommen... jedenfalls was mich betrifft.Die Schauspieler wurden gut gewählt. Shia Le Beof spielt Sam Whitwicky, einen Teenager der unfreiwillig in den Kampf zwischen den Transformers hinein gerät und dabei doch irgendwie ziemlich cool bleibt. Es ist nicht so, dass Sams Reaktionen und Handlungen unrealistisch rüber kommen und das macht den Charakter, neben den Szenen die vor dem Kontakt mit den Transformers spielen, noch glaubwürdiger.Megan Fox spielt Mikaela Banes. Sams, vielleicht, Traumfrau. Diese bringt zwar nicht viel Tiefgang in Sachen Charakter mit aber das ist auc nicht wieter Schlimm. Ich glaube das würde noch viel mehr Zeit in Anspruch nehmen.Ansonsten gibt es noch die Marines, gespielt von Tyrese Gibson (2 Fast 2 Furious) und Josh Duhamel (Turistas), den verteidigungsminister (Jon Voight) und ein paar weitere Personen, die aber bisher nicht nennenswert sind.Jetzt komme ich zur Pro und Kontra Auflistung:Kontra:- Ein Charakter scheint völlig überflüssig zu sein und kommt dabei auch nicht glaubwürdig rüber: Der Agen von Sektor 7 (John Turturro).Dieser sorgt einfach nur dafür, dass der Film unnötig in die Länge gezogen wird. Zwar sind die Szenen die auf sein Auftreten folgen keinesfalls langweilig aber auch nicht notwendig.- Der Film scheint gekürzt zu sein, um eine PG-13 bzw. FSK 12 Altersfreigabe zu bekommen.Somit scheint der Kampf zwischen Bumblebee und Barricade wirkt irgendwie unvollständig. Anstatt den Kampf zu zeigen, zeigt man die "Verfolgungsjagd" zwischen Frenzy und Sam... naja...- Auch sind die Kämpfe, welche meiner Meinung nach, sehr rar gesäht sind, hauptsächlich zu kurz. Der erste, s.o., wurde anscheinend gekürzt und der zweite zwischen Optimus Prime und Bonecrusher war auch ziemlich kurz. Sah zwar alles super aus aber ich hätte mir mehr gewünscht. Das Finale zähle ich jetzt mal nicht zu dem Punkt dazu.- Die Transformers, ausser Optimus Prime, bekommen zu wenig Zeit im Film. Die "Vorstellungsszene" von Ratchet, Jazz, Ironhide und Bumblebee ist zwar ganz nett aber will auch nicht so richtig überzeugen. Bis auf Bumblebee und Optimus Prime sagen die anderen einen Satz und das wars.Bumble Bee hat man ja schon vorher "kennen gelernt" und Optimus Prime bekommt später noch genug Dialoge zu sprechen. Die anderen Autobots dann doch irgendwie nicht. Zwar gibt es ein paar nette Sprüch, aber das macht den Braten auch nicht fett.Bei den Decepticons ist es noch schlimmer. Barricade bekommt ein wenig Screentime (lediglich einen gekürzten Kapf), Bonecrusher auch, Starscream fliegt ab und zu durchs Bild (wobei diese Szenen dann auch super geil sind), Blackout hat lediglich einen Kampf am Anfang des Films und Megatron kommt erst in der letzten halben Stunde zum Vorschein. Hätte mehr sein können... oder ist da mehr?- Barricade verschwindet einfach. Da scheint auch wieder etwas Film zu fehlen oder es ist ein kleiner Hinweis auf das Sequel, welches mit Sicherheit kommt.- Klischees. Auch in Transformers gibt es wieder ein paar Klischees. Die Marines (harte Kerle) von denen der Anführer lediglich zu seinem süßen Baby will, der schwarze Marine der nur rumschreit und flucht, der Ex-Freun von Mikaela (Football Spieler - genau so, wie auch in allen anderen Filmen in denen der Football Spieler das "heisse Mädel" hat, benimmt er sich auch - dumm.), der schwarze dicke Hacker und natürlich der höchste Regierungsbeamte der mal wieder von nichts ne Ahnung hat, nur Befehle erteilt und im Film dann doch erstmal, von einem seriösen Beamten, aufgeklärt werden muss. Natürlich bleibt in dem Film für diese Nebenrollen keine Zeit für Tiefgang aber man hätte vielleicht doch mal versuchen sollen diese Leute mit ein wenig mehr Individualismus auszustatten.Nun zu den positiven Aspekten:- Die beste Action seit langem. Mehr brauch man wohl nicht dazu zu sagen. Auch die Slow-Mo Effekte sehen super aus und unterstreichen noch die Effekte (s.u.) und die Action des Films.- Die Effekte sind top. Die Transformers sehen super aus und vor allem die Verwandlungsszenen sind unglaublich gut animiert. Hätte nicht gedacht, dass es die Leute um Michael Bay es so gut können... bzw. das Special-Effects Team.- Der Soundtrack passt perfekt zu jeder Szene und ist richtig impulsiv. Wirklich jede Szene, sei es nun Action oder Gefühlsszene, ist top untermalt. Dickes Lob an Joblonsky der da ganze Arbeit geleistet hat. Besonders die Szene in der die Autobots auf die Erde kommen hat eine 1a musikalische Untermalung. Ich persönlich hab da Gänsehaut bekommen. Perfekt.- Der Humor kommt nicht zu kurz und ist auch, an keinster Stelle, unangeb racht. Zwar kommen ein paar (jedoch sehr wenige) Witze sehr flach rüber sind aber trotzdem witzig. Man sollte mal auf die Details achten (siehe Titel). Diese setzen, mit den Sprüchen von Sam Whitwicky, dem Film in Sachen Humor die Krone auf. Da kann auch Bad Boys (1 und 2) nicht mithalten. Auch Frenzy, der kleine Spion der Decepticons, kommt nicht nervig vor. Lediglich, dass er mehr Screentime bekommt als die anderen Transformers, stört mich. Trotzdem sehr witzig.- Ab und zu doch mehr Tiefgang als manch anderer, "anspruchsvoller", Film. Besonders die Dialoge von Optimus Prime verdeutlichen die Aussagen des Films. Die wichtigsten sind der Stellenwert von Freundschaft und die Rolle des Menschen und seine Fehler.- Kein Patriotsmus. In diesem Film sieht man kein einziges Mal eine amerikanische Flagge. Ein sehr großer Pluspunkt. Vor allem für einen Actionfilm. Wenn man mal darauf achtet macht sich Michael Bay auch über die Regierung lustig. Zum einen merkt man das an bestimmten Stellen wo die Unfähigkeit der Regierung deutlich wird und zum anderen an der Szene in der Airforce One mit dem Präsidenten und seinen Socken.Ansonsten sollte noch einmal gesagt werden, dass wahrscheinlich auch noch ein Director's Cut oder eine Extended Version des Film auf den Markt kommen wird. Somit sollte man vielleicht, aber auch nur vielleicht, mit dem Kauf der DVD warten.Außerdem ist noch zu sagen, dass das Bild der DVD top ist und der Sound, wenn man eine Dolby Digital 5.1. Anlage besitzt, diese dann auch völlig ausnutzt. Somit fühlt man sich mitten drin. Fehlt nur noch die Ego-Sicht und man ist selbst Teil des Films ;).Fazit:Kaufen. Transformers ist Pflicht für jeden der meint, er hätte oder er wolle eine gute DVD-Sammlung haben. Dieser Film ist für "jung" und alt wobei ich sehr stark bezweifle, dass Kinder im Alter von 12-16 Jahren den Film in seinen vollen Zügen verstehen.Transformers ist das perfekte Dankeschön von Hasbro and die Fans der Spielzeuge und der Serie und Micheal Bay hat wohl seinen, mit Abstand, besten Film abgeliefert."Autobots, roll out!"

I had been looking for awhile to buy this movie. The dvd that I had unfortunately gotten scratched and was thrilled when I found it on Amazon and for a great price too!
