Oxford Black N' Red, Journal, A5 Notebook Casebound, Lined & Numbered, 144 Page

I deliberated for a while as to whether I should purchase this Black n Red notebook, or a similar Rhodia one. In the end, I settled on this one. It's a few pounds cheaper and I'm very happy I made the decision I did.Starting with the cover, I am unsure what it is exactly made from, but it has a pleasant texture and with the contrasting red stitching and elastic looks very aesthetically pleasing. Opening the cover, the first few pages are dedicated to things like your objectives and a contents (I personally don't care about these but I understand some may find them useful).The remainder of the book is just A5 lined paper. It has a margin, though there is no dividing line, only a break in the lines to signify where it is. I personally like this style of margin as it seems less obtrusive. Each page also has a number and an area to fill in the date in the style of " / / ". This date section is small enough than it does not distract you from the rest of the page yet is also very practical if you choose to use it in my opinion.Talking about the paper itself, this is Optik paper and it is amazing. As a fountain pen user, it is easily one of the best papers I have written on. It is very smooth and the nib glides across the paper, almost never bleeding through to the other side of the page. I have also managed to produce some sheen without even trying with a medium nib and Diamine Aurora Borealis (which itself is not overly prone to sheening in my opinion). I would definitely recommend this notebook if only for the quality of the paper alone at this price.The journal also has a "pocket" on the inside back cover where one could store small items etc. which seems to be durable enough for its intended use.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would happily recommend this journal to everyone, especially anyone with a fountain pen!

Good quality and a last long, handy marker.Had the last one for 3 or 4 years stayed together as good as new.That why I brought another.Highly recommended.

This notepad is exactly as described in the item listing. It has a sturdy hardback cover (casebound, so it stays closed), and provides 142 pages to write on - as well as a 'contents' page. Each of the 142 pages is ruled and numbered. It's A6 in size - which is quite small, but perfectly fits in most pockets. It's literally a handy pad to have if you're someone who likes to make notes or jot down ideas.Made by Black n' Red, this is a quality item. For approx. £5 it's a reasonable price. Of course, you can buy cheaper pads - and I recommend this particular notepad if you're after hardback.

Very smooth, high quality paper. I use several fountain pens, and there is only one (Lamy with italic nib and purple Waterman ink) that bleeds through. (The only paper I've found that takes this combination without bleed is the Rhodia brand.)Page numbering is very helpful. The stitched binding of the paper adds to the overall quality. Very nice notebook.

Although the quality of the item is excellent , they are still just a little bit to expensive.

Not the best notepad on the market, however it is of a good quality, with plenty of space to jot down notes. A useful jotter, however you certainly cannot write essays in it. It is well made and the leather casing is rather professional, it is a good value for money.

I couldn't be happier with this little A6 notebook from Black n' Red!This little book now comes with a useful contents page at the front so you can organise your notes to find them quickly! The book now also houses a little pocket at the back of the notepad so you can store any other loose notes etc. The introduction of the elastic band around the book is also very useful as you can keep the book closed and maintain its classy look. The pages are also a great white colour (actually white instead of a grey or yellow from many brands) and are surprisingly thick! Classic design, paper feels amazing to write on and the book has an overall classic styling that fits appropriately with any setting.

Gutes angenehmes A5 Notizbuch. Sieht schick aus. Alle Blätter sind beidseitig mit Füllfederhalter beschreibbar. Ich probierte verschiedene Federbreiten, Tintensorten und Füllerfabrikate aus. Das Papier nimmt Tinte willig auf und verläuft nicht. Auf der anderen Blattseite ist keine Tinte sichtbar. Der Tintenstrich ist gleichmäßig satt und der Kontrast zum weißen Paper hervorragend. Farbvarianten kommen in feinen Farbabstufungen wunderbar zur Geltung. Z.B. unterschiedliche Blau- oder Türkistöne kommen sehr gut raus auf dem hellen Papier. Vorne eine Seite fürs Inhaltsverzeichnis, OK, ist halt so. Seiten sind praktischerweiße durchnummeriert. Wenn ich ein Inhaltsverzeichnis mit Stichworten zur Seitenzahl mit einpflegen möchte, so beginne ich hinten im Buch mit erster Inhaltsverzeichnis-Seite bis sie voll ist. Dann ist nach vorne die zweitletzte Seite des Buchs dran mit Inhaltsangaben. Usw. nach vorne, bis das Buch von vorne natürlich nach hinten bis zum Inhaltsverzeichnis dann voll ist. Ist nur Gewohnheitssache. Linierung ist sehr zurückhaltend in grau. Rand ist ein gedachter Rand mittels unterbrochener Linierung. Die Idee ist genial. Der Rand ist stets auf der linken Seite des A5-Blatts. Für Kennzeichnung auf diesem Randstreifen stets links somit recht übersichtlich. Die hintere Falttasche für Zettelchen, Notizen oder paperdraw bzw repocketmod Minibriefchen oder Visitenkarten natürlich bestens geeignet. Man kann das dünne Buch recht flach aufschlagen. Es ist willig für den Schreiber. Nur manchmal könnte ich meinen, dass der leichte Geruch der Papierfabrik beim Riechen im Buch am Papier bemerkbar ist. Am Buchrücken war keine Hundertstel-Bindemaschine am Werk. Ist aber wegen des Blackdesigns nicht auffällig. Man hat in dem haptisch angenehmen samtigen und trotzdem stabilen Umband immerhin 142 vollwertig nutzbare Schreibseiten in der Hand. Das dünne Buch ist vorne und hinten mit todschickem Rot innen verkleidet. Das passende rote Gummiband ist straff und ich traue ihm Haltekraft zu, solange ich das Büchlein nutze. Das rote Gewebelesebändchen ist nicht nur Design, sondern natürlich sehr praktisch. Mit 12 Euro und beidseitiger Nutzung der Blätter ist dieses Notizbuch den Mitbewerbern wohl eine Nasenlänge voraus. Es ist ein universell gutes schickes Notizbuch.PS: Gummiband ist dauerhaft gut. Bei aufgeklapptem Notizbuch auf dem Tisch ist es unauffällig flach, =perfekt.Zeilenabstand ist 7 mm.

Beautiful notebook, colours of the black and red are exactly as on picture nice and crisp, love the paper they used, the pages right very nice.

I like this notebook in general and would like to rate it between 4 and 5 stars! The paper quality is great. Now about minuses:- The surface of the hardcover is shaggy and a bit unpleasant (personally for me). I believe this aspect can be improved.- Every page of the notebook has a diary sheet style (page number, blank form for the date). No big deal, but I would prefer instead a minimalistic style (only horizontal rules).Nevertheless, I would like to recommend this notebook because of the paper quality.
