Worse than the real thing, but not much cheaper
Update - I've had this for only a couple of weeks, and it's gone haywire. The microphone has stopped working, the inline controls don't respond and perhaps worst of all, they're sending seemingly random signals down the wire to my phone, turning the volume up and down and triggering the voice assistant. Definitely need to send them back, now.Previous review:I've already owned an official CBL-M-K, and sadly there are a few things that aren't up to snuff with this third party cable, especially for the price. The cables themselves are noticeably thinner and more plastically / less rubbery. The Shure logo has been reproduced, which makes the product feel more like a knock-off than a better value unofficial alternative. But the deal-breaker for me is the microphone. The placement of the inline controls is higher than it is on the real deal, which means that the microphone is not aligned with your mouth but with your cheek. I use these at work with my desktop computer for video conferencing, and I've had to crank up the microphone amplification 20Db, which obviously has repurcussions on noise. For this reason I'm going to need to send these back and get a real Shure set. If these were a lot cheaper than Shure I'd have to consider the compromise, since I'm really broke right now, but I just don't see the point with these expensive half-meaures.

The cables on this one are thicker which I like, but the male 1/8" plug is very different
This comes in a non Shure branded package and is not the same as the original Shure branded accessories even though at first glance they appear quite similar. While this cable has the same Shure branded control and rubber splitter, the cord is quite different from the original Shure cable. The cables on this one are thicker which I like, but the male 1/8" plug is inferior. The original Shure accessory works on both my iPhone and android (volume keys and center button). This cables volume controls do not work with android. Upon very close inspection, the parts and design are slightly different with the original Shure branded accessory having superior materials and design. Furthermore, the stock pictures shown on this ad are of the original Shure product and not of the product they are selling. The details are in the plug construction and how it attaches into the rubber housing. Cable sounds ok, but having been the owner of many Shure cables since they went to removable cables, I can see the difference. As a reference, I own 3 sets of earphones with removable cables (425, 535, 846) as well as previous generations (e2c, e3c) so I have a good understanding of the product and several references I can compare to.For iPhone only, this cable is ok and that's what's advertised. Even though Shure sells an android only cable (which I also have), their original 3 button cable works with more recent android phones. In my case I'm using an xperia Z5 which works fine with my original Shure cable but not this one. Both cables work with my iPhone 6s.Update: cable and controls are exhibiting strange behavior and noises after a few weeks

**Product broke after 2 months and returns policy lasts only 1 month****£21.29 is too good to be true and I would recommend purchasing the full priced cable from other retailers**After having the headphone cable for less than two months, the connectivity clasp (metal connecting bit) to the headphones itself has broken free and no longer provides signals to the earphones. You do not hear the "click" as you normally do on the official Shure earphone cable I got with the 535 earphones when you plug them into the cable. The returns policy states that you can only return the item a month after purchasing the goods.

Pattern item
I use my shures everyday, and considering these aren't supplied with the original headphones, if you want the remote control then there is no alternative. The ones bought from Shure look and feel the same as these but do cost more. I bought these and the first set sent out had to be returned as the remote just didn't work. The seller didn't question this and replaced straight away, the replacement set have been fine, but three months in are now starting to play up, sometimes the remote (again) is a little temperamental and sometimes the sound quality drops off.

Initial problem with product, Seller very helpful
My cable arrived broken. The left earbud couldn't receive a signal. I raised this with the seller, and a replacement was promptly sent out. So far no problems but only used the replacement for a day. Will update in a few weeks time if I have reliability issues like the other reviewers.

Volume controls don't work from new :-(
Poor: volume controls don't work out of the box. (Play/pause button works fine). On iPhone 7 with Apple certified lightning adaptor. Earpiece connectors feel loose when connected. Cable is very thin. Returning for refund.

Full marks..
Genuine Share component, although it was packaged in generic wrapping.Definite upgrade over the standard cable, due to microphone and media controls. Microphone is high quality, and the buttons are easily operated.Unlike the original cables, there is no reinforcement sleeve at the terminals, although this is entirely no-problem.
