UPDATE: Customer service graciously offered to send me a replacement after explaining it must have come from a certain Amazon warehouse with this issue. Happy to report the replacement mat does not have the smell and works as expected. Lesson learned… give it a try and just work with customer service if you get a smelly one. Rating changed from 1 to 5 stars.ORIGINAL: Seriously. Don’t ignore the other reviews saying how much this thing stinks. You’ll have an absorbent mat, sure - but be prepared to wonder where your animals have peed in your home. I saw one of the reviews say that the company replaced their product after noting one specific factor was churning out the smelly mats, so I hope my order can be remedied, but I have to wonder why they’re still distributing the mats made at that facility.

This product is amazing. It's like magic! The stone is not cold and hard as one would expect. There is a surprising warmth and softness to it. Further, it's not slippery. For those who despise stepping onto a rug with wet feet, this is a game changer. Its ability to absorb water and dry so quickly is also surprising.

I have used this mat for a few months now and it has held up well. It does an amazing job at soaking up water and then drying out. It is okay to clean. I put it into the tub and then scrub it with a brush. If you have kids or dogs that track dirt around, you will need to put some elbow grease into it. The downside to this mat is the smell. This thing stinks. I've had it for months and it still stinks. I've washed it and it stinks. The smell has lessened with time but is still there. I put up with it because it really does a great job soaking up water and it looks sharp in the bathroom.

This floor mat is great and I would give it 5 stars but unfortunately, I have to remove a couple of stars because of the smell emanating from this product. When the package arrived, I was thrilled and wanted to follow the exact directions for use. As I took it out of its box, the product smelled weird and overpowering. I initially thought it was just going to smell for a day or two. It has not stopped smelling terrible and it has been a few days.Other than the smell, the mat is awesome.
