TROPICA - Jojoba – Bush (Simmondsia chinensis) - 7 SeedsWorth knowing: The jojoba bush is considered to be a plant with enormous potential. It may even replace oil. The oil of its capsules (the well-known jojoba oil) is used in the wellness sector (cosmetics). It is used in medicine as a “slimming aid“ in the form of a culinary oil, as it is not digested in human intestines. The jojoba grows bushy and produces 1 to 2 cm lengthy, bluish-green leathery leaves. Origin: The plant is native to the south-west of the USA and northen Mexico. Propagation: The seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout the year. Leave the seeds to soak in water overnight and press them 1 cm deep into moist cultivation soil mixed with sand. At 25-28°C (e.g. on a radiator), the seeds germinate after 10 to 20 days. Place / Light: Easy to care for, the useful plant can be raised in a pot or tub, where it attains a maximum height of 1,50 metres. It also does tolerate longer periods of dryness. Care: Place the jojoba warm during summer. It does tolerate up to 45°C without any problem. Fertilize twice during the summer with liquid tub plant fertilizer. Winter period: Smaller plants in a pot can overwinter on the window-sill, bigger plants cultivated in a tub should be moved in a bright room that is not too warm.
