Travertine tiles
I have a travertine tile floor throughout a bungalow, just carpets in the bedrooms. I’m not ashamed to admit that I dislike this flooring, and wouldn’t have chosen it myself- it was down when we moved in. I’m sure they look lovely when first done, but the pockmarks and natural ripples in the stone fill up with dirt over time, leaving tiles never looking clean. I have literally spent hours on hands and knees scrubbing in the past. Looks good for a few days, then grubby again, even with daily vacuuming and mopping. Ideally this floor needs renovating and re grouting but it’s costly. The dirt around the cooking area becomes sticky within the pockmarks, so simple cleaning doesn’t work. The sheer time and effort to achieve so little has meant I didn’t do it enough, and recent injuries in the household has led to a few weeks of vacuuming only.I declared to husband the floor had to go, and we should get porcelain tiles instead. This was going to cost a fortune, so as a last ditch effort we invested in a decent cleaner. This has literally transformed everything. The first time I used it, the floor looked cleaner- not perfect by a long way, but cleaner. The water was an embarrassing thick brown sludge. The beauty was that I could actually see and feel a difference after only 30 mins- this is a big area, kitchen, diner, living room, hallway, sun lounge. Normally would take a couple of hours to vacuum then mop, with unsatisfying results. I repeated every day for 5 days, until the water was pale grey and the results got better every time. I now will maintain once a week. Some tips for anyone with a difficult stone floor,:Start at far end of room and work backwards, just a small area at a time.Hold button down on rug setting (uses more water needed for uneven surface) and through go over wetting surface.Move back over same area on suction only and get as much water up as possible. This is important, don’t leave it to evaporation or the dirt will just dry back on.Move slowly in different directions. This machine will do the hard work for you- but you need to give it a chance. Take your time and be methodical. The results are cumulative, use more often to start withI didn’t use the Bissell solution- so expensive! I used flash- worked better and smelt great. Use your own favourite.Get spare filters- they take ages to dryAs other reviews state this does not go right to edges. As far as I can tell none of them do. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me as I now have enough time to spray mop edges. The suction goes to the edges, so still takes up the dirt, but the brush roller doesn’t.I hope this review helps others. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Excellent piece of equipment, but expensive to run
I run a small.domestic cleaning business and therefore clean a lot.of houses, many with large areas of hard flooring. There is absolutely no doubt that this item saves time on the traditional vacuuming and mopping and anything that saves time in my industry gets a big thumbs up from.me.The suction on this machine is excellent and it will suck.up almost anything, wet or dry. However, I wouldn't say it is a miracle cleaning machine, it cleans no better than a vacuum and steam mop and one downside is that it doesn't really reach the edges and corners of the room. It works well on most hard floors, wood, tile and ceramic, however, if tiles are very shiny, the roller tends to skid around and leave marks behind. It is also good at cleaning rugs as long as they are large and weighted, otherwise it will just suck them up and get jammed. I don't agree that the machine dries as it goes, although it doesn't take long for the floors to dry, it cannot be drying when the roller brush is constantly wet!The dirty tank is small and gets full very quickly, however it is quick and easy to empty to carry on. Cleaning the machine when you have finished with it is also easy and quick but I would recommend getting a second filter and roller brush as they take 24hrs to dry between uses. The biggest thumbs down is the cost of the formula, which doesn't go far, I can get through a one litre bottle of this stuff after cleaning about 3 houses, so.I do have to limit how.much I use the machine because of this. Shame really as I would use it.much more otherwise.Overall, an excellent time saving piece of equipment but expensive to run.
