It works:
It works well but there are so many settings and you probably needs to not just read but study and learn the directions. Then use it almost daily. I don’t.

Best Laser Measure Tool I Have
I have a bunch of tape measures and started with my first laser tape measure about a year ago. Found it so functional with getting quick length measurements, areas and volume on the spot that I use it a lot. But the measurements had to be jotted down by hand or also quickly forgotten/mixed up. When I saw that this had an app to record the measurements directly onto the real photo of what was being measured, I immediately ordered it.It came beautifully packaged, and the tool felt premium. The User's Manual provided good guidance on how to use it but it's pretty similar to how my existing laser measure worked so quite intuitive to operate if coming from another laser measure tool. I found it interesting that it has a middle reference point setting for measuring distances but no clear marker on the tool for where the middle is. Maybe it's the little sticker on the right side? Measured but it's not in the middle. Also checked and the tripod mount is not in the middle too, length wise. Anyway, I don't plan to use this setting so all good, just another function for more choices. The function I did like a lot is the angle finder. It detects the angle in real time and I can see a lot of uses for it on its own and in conjunction with my level tools and saws. Now on to the app and the measurement recordings. It's great and what I'm looking for, just as I'm doing window blinds replacement at this time. The QR code in the manual led to the app for download, and following the on screen instructions, it took 2 tries to pair the phone with the tool. Pretty simple to navigate and use. The recording itself is quick and easy. Drawing the lines need a little more getting used to as the app seemed to have built in preferences - the start/end points tend to latch to high contrast points and existing drawn lines very readily. I'd have to move it out more to disengage from where they latch if it's not the point I want but can't get too close or it'd jump back to latch. So the lines need a little planning to be representative or just take them as crude sketches for memory jogger and focus on the measurements. While trying to work out the line adjustments, the bluetooth pairing can time out, so will require exiting out of measure mode to re-pair before getting back to measure mode. Once the measurements are done, the recording can be shared via email or saved in pdf form.Overall, really happy with it and will be my go-to. The app could work better and maybe there'll be app updates but I can make use of what it can do now. The only other improvement I would like to see is that the pouch have a slot to keep the reflector card separate so it doesn't get scratched up or fall out when pulling out the tool. I don't use the reflector card much but there are situations where it's needed to get a correct distance reading so I carry it along with the tool.

Wish I’d Had This Sooner
The D80 Pro is a great little tool to have and l’m favorably impressed. I’ve checked it’s accuracy several times and it’s dead on, and that’s out of the box without calibration. When I say it’s dead on, I mean down to the 1/16”. Basically, there’s no way I can pull a tape any more accurately, and lots of ways I can be more inaccurate with a tape. I was a draftsman… errr draftsperson way back in the day of plastic lead on mylar, and I wish I’d had this thing then. Anyway, if that’s all you need to know, feel free to stop reading. Now on to some particulars.First of all, the packaging is very nice and reminiscent of the packaging that the “fruit” logo electronics company uses for their phones. It all looks very high-end and would generate excitement and anticipation in the lucky person opening it as a gift. I’d give the packaging a 6-star rating if I could. In addition to the measuring device itself, Apex Forge also provides a sweet, rugged nylon carrying case, a target card, USB to USB-C charging cable, small wrist lanyard, quick reference guide and instruction booklet. The carrying case has a hook and loop closer that feels like it should hold up well, and will accommodate the unit and target card. I wish the belt loop were a bit wider, but that’s a very nit-picky complaint. The laser dot itself is easy to see even in bright sunshine. The LCD display is also easy to read and the information is presented concisely. There are six different measurement formats from which to choose, including metric and foot-inches. They all have their place and are easily selectable. The unit can easily be set to measure from its front, middle or rear. Rear is its default setting and the display clearly shows from where on the unit you’re measuring. On the bottom of the D80 Pro is a threaded hole which allows it to be mounted to a camera tripod. Drop a plumb bob from the center of your tripod, and with the unit set to measure from its center you’ll be able to accurately measure to an open point. Another nice feature is that the unit can take angular measurements and perform Pythagorean calculations, which is more than I can say for myself. The trick is to know when and how to apply the sacred theorem. The instruction booklet spells it all out though… thank goodness. Speaking of the instruction booklet, I think it’s actually pretty clear, though like so many other booklets, my aging eyes need a magnifying glass to read it.There’s an app you can download that will keep track of your measurements when connected via Bluetooth to your smartphone. The app states that it does not collect any personal data. (In today’s world, data privacy really boils down to integrity and trust, so who knows.) I haven’t actually used the app yet, so I don’t know what all it can do.Finally, it’s pretty obvious that the D80 Pro by Apex Forge is going to be a time and labor saver over using a tape measure, especially when working alone. Of course there will be a learning curve, and how much time and effort this light weight gadget saves you or me or anyone else will depend on how well we learn to use it. As for me, even if I do nothing more than use it to take linear measurements, I’ll save myself time and be more accurate. I really wish I’d had this thing a long time ago.

Great little tool BUT!
Easy to use, easy to pair to phone. Glaring oversight and keeps this from being 5 stars is that the manual does not fit in the included case!!!! No way I'm going to be able to remember all those functions. Looked in the app thinking maybe they included a digital version but nope! Seems like such a no Brainerd, when you guys add manual to app I will update this review.
