Forging a Future Self

The album is great, albeit a little rough since it was ATB's debut album... That said, don't buy the physical copy through Amazon. As a CD collector, I was excited about finding a hard-to-find physical copy, but it turns out that they just burned a copy to a disk and threw it in a cd case with a printed copy of the artwork. No credits, no lyric booklet, not even a single reference to Sumerian Records on the packaging. Just a burnt disc with a label printed in generic font and sold at the regular price of any other cd. It's almost like a bootleg copy. What a dissapointment. I'm worried that the bands are getting any benefit from this either, after receiving faux copies of both this album and "Danza IV" by The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, I spoke to both ATB's bassist Lee Foral and ex-Danza guitarist/founding member Josh Travis via social media and neither of them knew this was going on and were concerned with how this business is being carried out.

The cd itself is amazing.. this one is FAKE though.

First album from this band, genre progressive metalcore. He's a mix of various genres I like this. recommended to 8 strings guitar fans!

It did not play. I couldn't get the cd to play at all.. This was my first bad experience with amazon

The first time I saw this band was at a God Forbid show. I had never heard of them before, and had no idea what I was in for! By the end of their set, I didn't even care about sticking around for God Forbid! Needless to say, I bought a copy of the CD after the show, and it was money well spent!The thing I first noticed about this album was the production quality, I mean the bass is practically inaudible throughout. Even with this seemingly huge flaw, it doesn't make the album any less brutal! These guys have a knack for contrasting very upbeat melodies with pummeling breakdowns better that any band I have ever heard before. The vocals are constantly changing between high-pitched screaming, low guttural growling and in-your-face yelling. Packed with incredible songs throughout, it's hard to say that any track is better than the rest,but my personal favorite tracks are "Fingers Like Daggers", "Engulfed" and "The Forfeit". After listening to this album, there is no doubt that these guys are playing music the way they want. With the Hardcore scene exploding with so many acts that are merely putting their own twist on the genre, it's nice to have a band like ATB come along that really pushes the boundaries of Hardcore!I had a chance to see these guys again with Born of Osiris and Veil of Maya, and despite not being the headlining act, After the Burial still stole the show! They definitely bring the intensity of the album to the stage! Check them out! This CD and "Messengers" by August Burns Red are my two favorite Hardcore albums of '07.
