I have several of these in different lengths. This was the 9 inch version. Whilst a 9 inch gap may not seem very big, I think my slim 27kg lab could squeeze through the gap if she really wanted, but the gap does help air to circulate through the car.The hook end loops around the bolt/ ring part on the base of the boot of the car and can be turned to tighten it to stop it slipping off. Them carefully lower the tailgate, snd postion the ventlock zso that the tail gate catch clips over the loop end of the ventlock. Once clicked into place, the car can be locked, securing the tailgate partially open.

Fits both Volvo XC60 and XC60, like the fact that when I locked the cars actually dead lock. So a good product.

Easy to fit, easy to use and perfect gap for my car boot to allow good airflow for my dog. I bought the 6” one.I wouldn’t leave my dog in the car for a long time and not in the sun or on a hot day. This is great for short periods like popping to the shop or whilst waiting somewhere eg motorway service station.Every dog owner with a cat should own one.

Excellent piece of kit, I use this on my van for my dogs while stationary when it's too hot. the rear door remains solid and secure. personally, I felt the 12" was a little too long, but then it would depend on the situation you find yourself, I am ordering the 4" next.

I bought two of the 9" ones for the canopy on my pickup truck. I can now leave the dogs locked in their crate with the canopy ajar in complete safety.

It lets me leave the boot open to get some airflow, which is really handy when it gets a bit warmer. It is a bit tricky to put in place, but easy to remove when you come back to the car.

We have a lockable car crate for the dogs, however, my car doesn’t lock with the boot open. This item is the perfect solution to that as it’s still permits enough airflow but also allows me to secure the vehicle.
