Makes counting seem sad and hopeless
This is a cheaply made, thoughtless product. The main figure, Mister Twiddles, searches hopelessly and endlessly for his lost sheep, Doodle. His face is totally expressionless, but his voice cries out painfully for his lost pet. The story-line does not make sense, but not in a funny way, and sometimes the number of animals shown does not even match the number being taught. The picture of bats shows them as a lump of writhing somethings-or-other, not as separate entities, making it entirely unclear how to see them as being three or nine. The story uses live animals but gives them human voices, which really frightened my two-year-old grandson. At a time when toddlers are just learning the real sounds that animals make, it is not wise to give real animals human voices. Cartoon figures and hand puppets can have voices, children understand that that is "pretend", but real dogs and zebras and polar bears should not have human voices. Then Humpty Dumpty makes false promises ("I'll help you if you first solve this problem" and then two minutes later "but now you have to solve this other problem, too.") This is an amateur attempt to explain numbers and counting and detrimental to a positive attitude toward math. It made my grandson cry and he threw it in the trash basket all by himself.

Numbers and Counting with Animals DVD
My daughter has been entertained by this DVD. The story line kept her very interested. She has learned her numbers and animals. This is a good DVD, I would recommend using it with the Numbers, Shapes and Colours Flash Cards from Galloping Minds. The length of the DVD is 30 minutes, about right for children. The plot is fun and great for learning. There is song about ducks on a wall and very useful for teaching counting. My daughter watches the DVD often and I think I can credit this DVD for teaching her the numbers. She also enjoys the animals featured in the DVDs.

I get the picture...just about
I was well looking forward to this for my little one to enjoy but the graphics on it are terrible. I see the potential in the storyline, I just wish the graphics were much better.
