Komodo Advanced Heat Mat 7W (142x274mm)

had it about 6 months and so far its doing great.I've taped it to the side of my viv with a thermostat positioned at substrate level, about 1cm away. the heat can be felt through the 16mm chipboard so i reckon it would do well under substrate but the casing where the power cord meets the mat isn't waterproof so i decided not to risk it.The plug doesn't disconnect from the cable, and the cable doesnt disconnect from the mat, so you might have to get creative with the placement. i built my viv from scratch so i made sure the ventilation hole was big enough to fit the plug through (60mm dia was fine) and cut a little hole in the vent itself so the plastic wasn't digging into the wire. A bit of duct tape to hold the mat in place and a nice backdrop and some plants to hide the wire and there you go.The mat itself heats up pretty quickly, the first few hours when i turn it on after being away for the weekend my cornsnake likes to lie so he's pressed against it so i regularly check if the surface is hot enough to burn him but it never is.

I have just received two of these after ordering them yesterday. Impressed to see that these arrived on Good Friday. Though I have only had these for about an hour, I d have two other of these mats which i got elsewhere about one month ago, so feel qualified to give a review.I have to say, that for the price these are vary good. They are ultra-thin and are made so that they are encased in a thin layer of laminated plastic. They produce a 14.4 watt gentle heat across the whole of the mat, and are vary quick to hear up - within minutes. I actually use these to keep my ant farms warm, which the ants love, and it encourages quicker development of their brood. These mats don't come with any fancy bells and whistles, no thermostat for example, but I simply plug these into a timer so that I can regulate when the mat comes on.For the price these are a vary good buy.

As some other reviewers have also noted, it's a little larger than what I expected, but that doesn't matter too much, as I can make it work. Seems to be solid enough, and so far has done a good job of maintaining a consistent 25 degrees Celsius in my African Land Snails' terrarium, though I have to admit I was hoping for a little more heat. Still, it does its job, and it seems to be well made.

This turned out to be a little too big for what I needed but it’s in use nonetheless, and hooked up to a thermostat it’s doing a great job maintaining a steady temperature. It’s laminated like most of these are, but the plastic is decently thick, the electrical joins to the mat are well insulated and secure. I had to cut the molded plug off as I needed to pass the cable through as small as hole as possible, but a screw on plug is not expensive or hard to fit.All in all, this is maintaining a solid even output throughout the area of the mat and I’m very happy it’s come from a known and trusted reptile brand. Would always rather spend 15-20 on this than >5 on something online from China or a no name.

Brilliant!I have used this heater for my rainbow land crab. They need to be in a heated tank with 2/3 land and 1/3 water and it was always difficult to keep it at the correct temperature (they require it to be between 23 and 29 degrees C and for it to be humid). This heat mat keeps the tank at 25 degrees C perfectly, it could go higher but that's what I have set the thermostat to.

Got 2 corn snakes and they both have one of these, can't reccomend them more than enough. They heat up fast and accurate. More than big enough for a decent sized tanks warm spot and don't cost too much. Great heat matts for people with small reptiles

I keep Corn Snakes and this heat mat replaced another one previously on the floor of the Vivarium but it got shorted out by constant contact with snakes waste, this one is fastened to the vivarium's end wall so should not get this problem, I also keep one in reserve just in case one in the other vivarium's has problems and a quick changeover to keep snakes warm. These are the ideal heat source the snakes cannot burn themselves on them.

I bought this for an 18l RUB, and while it's a bit smaller than I was expecting, it's still big enought to do the job. Also,TO ANYONE WHO IS BUYING THIS AS THEIR FIRST EVER HEAT MAT:After 10 minutes, I was convinced this product was broken because only a small, random portion of the mat was actually producing heat, and it was a very weak heat as well. It took around about half an hour or maybe a bit longer to properly kick in and start doing its job. So don't panic or get discouraged when you first plug it in.
