Carry bag is lightweight canvas, well constructed.Holds the bear keg easily, and I placed the length of nylon rope that I would use to hang the keg at night in the bag as well - it was a tight fit but could be done. In a perfect world, there would be a small pocket on the bag to hold the rope, as it is clearly something that would be needed. (I might get out my sewing machine to make one? Hmm)As I mentioned in my review of the bear keg container- I didn’t contend with any bears during my trip thankfully, however the squirrels were horrible and very aggressive. I left the locked keg in the carrier on my picnic table and when I returned the squirrels had chewed a 1-2 inch hole in the top of the bag! It didn’t effect the ability to still be able to hand the bag at night.

Very convenient to have
This carrying case is a great thing to have if you're backpacking into bear country. It will free up a ton of space inside your pack for nice-to-have items like clothes, a tent, a sleeping bag and other such luxuries. It has 2 straps that you can use to secure it tightly to your pack. It fits the bear-proof canister very nicely, and there's a little bit of extra room you could use to put maps, a towel or similar flat items around the outside of the canister, along the inner wall of the carrying case. I think it's a must have item! Too bad it doesn't come included with the bear-proof container, but it's worth the extra money.

Works with most popular kegs
I'm using it with BearVault BV500. I also tested it with Garcia Bear-Resistant container. It works fine with both.Good quality and construction. It is to be used for transport of the keg tied to the outside of your backpack. It is to be removed when camping for easy access to the keg content, protected from the stains of outdoor cooking, and protected against the animals that may damage it trying to get to your food in the keg. Store the keg by itself 100' from the tent.Improvement? Use some lighter materials and webbing to reduce weight. It is the keg that protects the food not this bag.

Great option for strapping to exterior of pack.
Having the option to strap your bear can to the outside of your pack frees up valuable space while going on an extended backpack. Just remember to take the bear can out of the case at night so a curious bear can't run off with your food :-)

Fits a BV500 like a glove
This thing makes packing the bear canisters away for a long backpacking trip 1000x easier. Pretty straightforward. I do wish that they sold it with a ready-to-attach carabiner or molle though but that's just me.

Makes External Carry Easier
Bought this on sale in case I want to carry my bear canister externally on my pack. It's well-constructed, includes straps and loops, and fits my Garcia canister well.

I bought this for my Bear Vault 812. It ...
I bought this for my Bear Vault 812. It fits with a little extra room on the sides. I used it for a week in the Sierras on my Kelty 65 External frame backpack. The carrier is well made and feels strongs. It does free up space in the pack, but it does move the weight of the food and stuff up higher on your back. That makes putting your pack on a little more of a challenge. You need to secure the bucket tightly to your pack. You should check to see that it does not move. My Kelty has an external bar across the top of the pack. When I tied it down to just the bar, and not the top of the cover flap of the pack, the bucket moved too much..

Keep the bears away!
I purchased this for backpacking in the wilderness where such items are required. When required, this is a good item to have but is does add weight and takes up a lot of room in a pack.
