I recommend these to anyone for *car camping*
I teach camping classes annually to a group of scout parents. After testing tons of products, including name brand, technical, and expensive choices from my local recreational equipment co-op, this is the sleeping pad I keep coming back to:- fairly easy (but perhaps annoying) to inflate, as long as you can reasonably balance on one foot while pumping with the other- does not bottom out! As a plus-size camper, this is particularly important to me. I inflate to the max, then let out a little air - the process is very easy.- insulates from cold well. I’ve used this pad down to 20* F, combined with a reflective Arcturus tarp under and a 20* F sleeping bag, plus appropriate base layers. No probs with cold.- for the value, it is ridiculously inexpensive.- fairly lightweight, particularly for car campers. Not sure if I’d take this backpacking, but I’d be tempted.- wide enough for wiggle room, but not so wide that you’re taking up all the space in the tent- does not make a lot of noise - love that about this.I did receive one of these mats once that would not inflate, and I returned it. As always, test your gear before going to be sure it works! It sucks to get to your destination and have defective materials. Highly recommend this sleeping pad as part of your car camping sleep system!

Narrow, overall decent deal.
Worked well for about three years, a few uses/year. Now it deflates a lot every use. Still decent value. Great for under a sleeping bag, I usually used with sheets which made me feel the narrowness of the mattress, my arms fall off the sides if I don't tuck them in the blanket.

The best
This (these) worked great! I got two of the individual sized ones for me and my toddler who usually Co-sleep. and used them on a 2 night trip this weekend.whether its lightweight or not probably depends on what you're looking for. For car camping or even a short pack it in from the parking lot its pretty light and easily carried (my almost 2 year old carried both just from the car to the tent) but i wouldnt want this in my pack if I was backpacking far. it's super comfortable so it might be worth it but it is not light enough for backpacking in my opinion. It is small and flat not puffy in its bag and didn't get bigger when I re-stuffed it so that's a plus.It is not self-inflating but it is not hard. it comes with a built in hand or foot pump. You do have to do that a few times to get it going but I used it about 20 minutes and barely made a dent. I used my mouth and 4/5 good blows had it mostly full and then the hand pump finished it off and firmed it up. easier than blowing up a full pool float but not self inflating. It deflats flat super easily.now the important bit comfort:THIS IS SO COMFORTABLE. I weigh 350 lbs and am a side/front sleeper. Mostly side. I never touched the ground in anyway and felt supported evenly. I had mine all the way blown up and the first night it was alittle too firm just for the elbow that I lay on. It did lose just alittle bit of air the next day, it got hot in the tent close to 90f and then by bedtime it was down to 50f 30s over night. But that was just enough to make it not too firm for me. Probably one or two quick pushes on the hand pump before getting into bed would have firmed it up. I didn't bother.I used to drag a 4 inch gel memory foam matteress topper camping with me and comfort wise this was better. And it was a gazillion times better than an air matteress. It is a air bubble so it did get alittle cold but having one layer a balanket or sleeping bag between you was enough. It does not get as cold as a air matteress. It is quiet. sleeping bags make noise but this doesn't add to the noise and its doesnt make air noises lol.The material is a nice thick material so I was comfortable with my dog walking on it. He has popped air matteresses but this was fine. It also would be easy to hose off if needed. Its pillowy enough to be a soft bed but firm enough that its not hard to get off of.Size wise the individual is ok. It felt longer than I'd expect from a camping mat it was wide enough. similiar to an adult square sleeping bag laying flat so adequate. The ripples are not noticeable when you lay down.I can't think of anything else. This is comfortable. It is easy to setup and take down and carry. Love it.

CRV roadtrip approved!
45F, 5' 1", in a 2013 Honda CRV, 1 week roadtrip Oct 2020.Had to get out of my house/prison mid-pandemic but with no set destination I wasn't certain I would always find covid-free accommodations. So I figured an air mattress would be a good 'last resort.'I topped it with Target 1.5" memory foam mattress topper in Full, folded in half and wrapped it all in a gray blanket. Topped that with a sleeping bag, pillow and an extra throw blanket. I had the space. I folded down the back seat on driver side. The air mattress was a wee bit long to fit between the driver seat and the hatchback but I rolled it a little at the top for more pillow effect. I only ended up sleeping that way twice, plus one extended riverside reading session while it was raining. This mattress was SUPER comfy!!! I have slept in the back before and it was miserable before this air mattress. My middle-age hips ached no matter how thick the pile of blankets. (I like doing those weekend trips where you flip a coin at intersections to decide which way to turn. Never know where you'll go!) Now that I have this mattress, I'll be able to do more of my Last Minute Coin Flip Trips!!Knowing air mattresses can stretch and feel less full, I pumped it up a couple days before I left and spent some TV time using it to make sure it wouldn't stretch or bust a hole during my trip. I have not had to add air since the first time. The trick to inflating it is to fully COVER the hole while pressing, and fully UNCOVER the hole when releasing. Covering the hole pushes ALL the air from the 'ante-chamber' into the mattress, then refills the chamber on the release. I think there is a one way valve so the mattress does not lose air on the release. Simple, brilliant engineering. The relase valve is on the flip side. Sleep with the valve ends at your feet.Deflating was even easier. Pull the full release valve and roll from the opposite end. I deflated partway, then unrolled it, folded in half lengthwise and started rolling/deflating again. I had it completely deflated and EASILY back in the storage bag in about 3 minutes.I LOVE LOVE LOVE that this mattress doesn't require extra pieces (like separate foot pump) that could get lost or just take up unnecessary space or require electricity. It is the perfect camping air mattress.I could easily fit 2 of these in the back of my CRV and take my YA niece next trip but then I'd have to find a new spot to store all my snacks. :)General sleeping in car tips: I took hangers to drip dry rain jackets and they ended up being useful to block light coming in through the back windows at night. Also some welcome stations (Virginia, Pennsylvania) allow overnight parking while others (Georgia) have a 2 hour max. Some truck stops have showers for a fee. Leave only footprints, take only pictures.
