Must read for professionals in finance and corporate governance
Satyam's case is well known, and as a professional would have read several articles written about the same. This book is an exceptional contribution narrating the first-hand experience of involving intensely in the government-initiated revival process. The authors have helped to experience the turn of events through the well-articulated presentation of facts, figures, and emotions. The split personality of Raju or the race to shoring up performance q2q could lead to disaster. All of us know that "riding the tiger' is deadly. But the book, especially part 7, articulates why someone should avoid even thinking of getting there. Intrinsic worth gets recognized appropriately, and there is space for doing good work. Fudging the accounts spoils the good. It requires an extraordinary team to revive and hand it over to another professional set up to move on. The lessons for Part & Takeaways are the best read for any aspiring professional from the school of excellence in engineering, management, and professional bodies. Character is built through your values and beliefs system, and do not trade the same for monetizing wealth; riding your ego is one of the best contributions the book gives as part of the turnaround of events for revival. You cannot agree less with the authors' view that the punishment of wrongdoers must scare professionals from thinking of any fraud. Part VIII The Denouncement will make you experience how one of the authors, Mr. Manoharan, enjoys professionalism, values, and commitment to purpose. Several anecdotes of his audit and accounting professionalism could inspire young professionals. At one stage, as a reader, you may wonder how the authors look at valuation. But in Part VII, when they demonstrate the CAGR of 18% received by the investors (retail) makes you feel the hard work the turnaround specialists have done. Congratulations on the narrating and absorbing reading of a turnaround case. This is a must-read for those in business and governance.

A must read for all generation.
This book pushed us back to 2009. When I am walking with events of uncertainty of those days, it brings tears to our eyes. The Tech phoenix book's 229 pages squeezed and covered the entire Satyam episode. From confession day, each Satyam associate was going through a tsunami of sarrow day by day. It is because of the humungous effort of the Government appointed independent board of directors, for whom we don't have words to praise. The transparent and invigorate effort of the directors brought Satyam to a safe shore in 100 days. SATYAM means to be Truthful, Certain and Authentic which was followed by these Independent directors religiously. T.N.Manoharan Sir's proposal to not get Salary for Satyam rescue operation needs deep inscriptions in the minds of today and future generations. Manoharan Sir is a living example to show that money should be behind us and we should not be behind it. When we walk along his steps of life his determination, social ethics and crave to give a more valuable contribution to society are great values to us. If we are truthful (Satyam) and philanthropic then God will be behind us "to raise us as a phoenix" is what I learned from this book.

Incredible and unparalleled corporate story
Satyam history feels like an unpredictable and unparalleled corporate story. Risk is the price that you pay for opportunity. Mr. Manoharan’s disciplined work ethics of recording daily critical details and above all the adorable generosity of giving back to society and India in particular is the backbone of the book. Out of the box thinking while resurrecting Satyam, must have been a high octane job!!What kept me turning pages is suspense, which Mr. Pattabi Ram created using a variety of techniques, enigmatic intrigue and shocking twists including tension, pacing and foreshadowing in some pages.Competition in professional world has risen to such a high level that even an experienced and well meaning person like Mr. B.R. Raju faced a big challenge to overcome his unlimited greed. Also, Mr. Raju’s leadership ability to engage and empathise with Satyamites in disparate needs and ideas are a revelation in this book.Personal impression on the board of directors of Mahindra Satyam is best described by the quote of Ralph Waldo Emerson..“A great man is always willing to be little.”

A fantastic read
The fast paced narrative keeps you glued to the book till the last page but what’s really important if the message. One, you just can’t mess with other people’s money and second, one can turn around most adverse events with tenacity and dedication.Mr Manoharan, in this book has given a selfless account of his immense contribution and this cannnot be forgotten . While we blame our government for all plausible ills, books like these tell us how efficient our machinery is to safeguard the common man’s interest if right people are at the helm. Brilliant book indeed. A must read for all professions. Even as a doctor, there are plenty of lessons for me
